amazing place. I was very comfortable. Chris the host was friendly and there if I needed anything but left me in peace otherwise. Would strongly recommend this place to anyone who is looking to treat themselves.

Shana, the owner was so helpful when I booked and arrived within minutes having booked with Booking.com instead giving the required 2 days notice. The suite I was given was a large gable roof one WITH A BATH and all the toiletries to spoil myself. No detail was too small or an inconvenience. We hit it off straight away and a happy smile and appreciation for her efforts was all that was needed to have a truely memorable stay at Wakefield Quebec. The area was quaint and picturesque and we were located right on the main street with views of the Gatineau River and other stately homes. A leisurely stroll along the main street allowed me to meet friendly helpful people, soak up the town's history including an enclosed "kissing" bridge that had burnt down and was lovingly rebuilt by the locals, see the end of the line train turntable that, for the last 15 years has no longer run much to the locals regret and peruse the wares at a candy shop that sells maple leaf candy (toffee morsels to die for)!!! Hiking the Sentiers trails is a great way to experience Quebec in the fall. Beautiful!

What guests said about Wakefield:

Wakefield is a wonderful place.

Wakefield is a wonderful place. A very nice village in a very beautiful natural environment. A special place in the Province of Québec. I believe that visitors will feel a special, possibly bohemian lifestyle. Once one gets there, everything is in walking distance. Nice cafés, nice restaurants, nice boutiques, live music, friendly people and all this embedded in beautiful nature in the valley of the Gatineau River, surrounded by the Gatineau Hills, neighbouring the Gatineau National Parc. Great hiking opportunities, mountain biking, canoeing, fishing, shopping, good food, and music. Since Wakefield had been founded by English and Scottish immigrants, once upon a time, it has preserved its English-speaking character despite French being the first language in Québec. On a side note regarding winter, fans of alpine skiing will even find their ski hill in Wakefield, night skiing included.

We were greeted by Steve as soon as we arrived. He had already processed our payment. He then showed us around our room, as well as the shared kitchen and living room area. He couldn't have been more gracious. Our room was comfortable, spotless and very cozy. We enjoyed rambling around the lovely town of Wakefield. Thank you, Steve, for your warm welcome and hospitality...we shall definitely be back! Nancy Stokes and Walter Makowski

The rustic charm and quiet scenery. The dinners and breakfast we had far exceeded our expectation and were top notched. One of our servers mentioned the hill up from the hotel where we went for a walk to find the MacLaren cemetary where one of our former prime ministers Lester B Pearson was buried and had a lovely history lesson of our beautiful country. Drove to see the covered bridge and went into a lovely bakery along the way.

The auberge is located on a side street with beautiful old houses, away from the traffic but within easy walking distance to all the restaurants and boutiques in Wakefield. The building and the room are modern; everything is new and fully equipped. Having the sauna on the patio was such a treat!
