Excellent option for the night close to the airport The only issue - there is no restaurant in the hotel for the dinner, but the Moxis restaurant in the area is an excellent option and also there are some other places that are very close, of course you can choose to eat in the restaurant of the Hilton ( 3 min walk)

FAQs about hotels in Ottawa

A Symbol of Canadian Pride

On the south bank of the Ottawa River, the Canadian capital Ottawa is a grand symbol of what the country stands for: bilingualism, civic pride and wonderful vistas.

Facing Langevin Block (the prime minister’s office) is the city’s most famous landmark - the Centre Block parliament building. Its tall central tower and circular parliamentary library make a great photograph from Gatineau across the river, which is joined to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Rideau Canal by a series of locks. Skating on the frozen canal is a highlight of the huge Ottawa Winterlude festival.

The city’s history is detailed in Bytown Museum by the locks. Opposite is peaceful Major’s Hill Park, overlooked by Château Laurier, a historic hotel named after a former prime minister. Also named after him is Laurier House, his seat of office. Other important national buildings include the Royal Canadian Mint, Supreme Court, and Rideau Hall, the Queen’s official residence when in the country.

The business district and Ottawa Convention Centre are in Downtown, and nearby shopping options include Rideau Mall and ByWard Market - the oldest farmers’ market in Canada and the area with the best nightlife.

Ottawa accommodation on Booking.com includes luxury hotels with pools, B&Bs with parking and apartments near the train station, all easily accessible from MacDonald-Cartier Airport.

Ottawa is a pretty city, well-planned with a plethora of green spaces. Against a backdrop of a rich, vibrant culture, the city prides in hosting the best of music, theatre and dance from all over the world. Despite the harsh winter, the Rideau Canal attracts ice skaters and ice sculptors from all across Canada. Ottawa is one of the most charming capitals in the world.

I didn't like Ottawa. Nice enough parks but other features not worth travelling for. Restaurants very much leaning towards fast food. Shopping experience poor. Excessive building and redevelopment in progress. More a commercial centre than a must see location.

Ottawa is quite compact and fairly easy to navigate to the many museums and historical sights. We enjoyed the National history museum in Gatineau this trip and wish we could have had more time. The Napoleon immersive is not to be missed even if a bit dizzying. There was extensive exhibits and history of our First Nations and early Canada. And the surrounding grounds along the river are outstanding.

Being there for the tulip festival was brilliant and the crowds and vibe in the Byward market square were great and the the Aulde Dublinner pub just like a true Irish/English pub atmosphere and decor. Really good choice of beers and food. Staff excellent. Overall really good trip including visits to the museum of nature and war museum.

A lot of people say Ottawa is a boring city, but honestly, I didn’t feel that way at all. There’s actually so much to explore. The city is full of Canadian history, beautiful architecture, great restaurants, cozy coffee shops, and plenty of bars to enjoy at night. Unfortunately, like many large cities around the world, downtown also has a visible homelessness and drug-use problem. Still, it never made us feel unsafe or negatively impacted our experience overall. I’d say spending 3 to 5 days in the city is the perfect amount of time to explore the main attractions, enjoy the atmosphere, and experience what Ottawa has to offer.
