Monastère des Augustines

Hotel in Centre-Ville, Quebec City

Le Monastère des Augustines, a health and wellness centre, is a former monastery from the 17th century that has been completely restored.

The monastery is set in a walled compound just a little downhill from the old city centre so it was was quiet and peaceful despite the bustle of the main streets. The shared bathroom situation is not a big inconvenience because there are several shower rooms on my floor. They were very clean and I didn't have to queue at all. Other than the accommodation aspect, the monastery also has a museum and it was worthwhile exploring its history and gardens too. It's perfect for solo travellers. I slept well and felt very rested even after just a night. Would love to be able to visit again.

The location, situated in the beautiful old town of Quebec was amazing. The quality of the room was exceptional, the room size was perfect for what my wife and I needed, the soap and shampoo Loccitane in the bathrooms showed it used quality products. I will stay here again if I return to Quebec City as I didn’t stay long enough.

Old Quebec city is simply breathtaking and a must visit. The beautiful cobbled pathways with old buildings, quaint shops with local artists, amazing culinary scene. My favorite restaurants are two Michelin star ...Chez Rioux Pettigrew and Chez Boulay. And an offbeat local restaurant called La Maison Marocain.... Le Petit Champlain for the local artist shopping and of course visiting Plains of Abraham..to watch changing of the guards, museum. Old monastery, Chateau Frontenac and just sitting in cafes and rekaxing

We actually were in Quebec city for three days - we stayed somewhere else first. I loved it. The people are very friendly and there is so much history to see and absorb. The architecture is amazing, the lower old town is also great - make sure to walk all the way to the port area as there are beautiful little galleries. We also walked into the actual city area up to Montcalm. We found some much cheaper eating alternatives there.

Quebec City is vibrant and welcoming.

Quebec City is vibrant and welcoming. We enjoyed the historic sights, wandering through the shops, dining at the restaurants, touring the provincial government building, and visiting the Musuem of Civilization as well as the art museum. Outside the city, the church of Saint Anne De Beaupre and Montmorency Falls were both worth a visit.

There’s so much to do, three days wasn’t enough time. Amazing cuisine at Restaurant Don close to the petit quarter. Everything was very nice. We went to the Chutes and it was a little over rated but still nice if you have nothing else to do. We were ready to get out into the wilderness and went north after leaving the city. So many national parks , and tons of hiking and water activities to do. We loved the Auberge Cap du Leste and want to come back someday!

Old Quebec reminded me of a mix between Key West and Europe.

Old Quebec reminded me of a mix between Key West and Europe. It had all the charm of an old European city but with lots of shops like down in Key West or Bar Harbor. Many great places to eat - could get fat pretty easily there. Thank goodness for all the walking. I prefer a little less of the touristy shops, but I still very much enjoyed our trip and will be back again next year.

The hotel was very conveniently located in Old Quebec City close to many restaurants and sights. We were able to drop our luggage off and returned after a day of sightseeing to find it already in our room. That was a nice surprise! The Tourism Office is located on the first floor of the building for those requiring information. The room was cleanly and well appointed. If you are driving, I would recommend pre-booking a parking space in the city, and walking or taking a cab to the hotel. Its a little stressful driving in the old town

This hotel has a good location in Old Quebec City and a pleasant little courtyard where one can sit outside. The bathroom, though small is adequate and the towels are excellent. The hotel is certainly atypical, the rooms are small and the bed must be hoisted to the ceiling to make space during the day. There is only one uncomfortable folding chair in the room so it is not very usable during the day. Breakfast food is provided and cooking facilities. The communal space provided an excellent meeting spot for our rather large family.
