In the car-free resort of Mürren in the Bernese Oberland, the chalet-style Hotel Alpenruh offers wonderful views of the Eiger, the Mönch and the Jungfrau mountains. Alpenruh really helped us to enjoy our vacation in the mountains. It has an excellent location, the breakfast was exceptional, the staff were all very friendly. I enjoyed that they offer dinner every night (but of course you don't have to eat there if you want to explore elsewhere). Our dog was welcomed and we felt at home.

Stay two nights minimum. You could add one to fully take advantage of all Mürren has to offer. The Piz Gloria and it's exhibition of 007 is great entertainment. Must see the movie once again. Next time we would rent a bike and experience some more sports activity in the fresh air... Everyone is so friendly. From the people in the hotel, at the cable car, in the restaurant of Piz Gloria and the small convenience shop (Coop) in the village.
Very nice and quiet place with great view to Alps. Its a small place so after 6 p.m. there is nothing to do. There is a COOP store right in the center of the village. In summer time you can do hiking to Lauterbrunen for a 2 hours.
Mürren is one of the few car-free tourist villages in Switzerland, with only a few local electric vans and gasoline tractors. It is definitely quiet and of course has the outstanding views of the Bernese Alps. Tourism here is extremely expensive, so you will not find great value for money at any accommodation, any restaurant, or any tourist attraction. At least the walking is free.
Beutiful place, views are amazing. Town is small so perfect for families with little children. Not a lot of stores or restaurant options available during our stay but still a great place to relax, enjoy nature and exercise.
During our visit last august, initial idea was to use it as a base for exploring surroundings - but for that you would need pass for transportation as well as up to date schedule for funiculars. Another important aspect is weather forecast - we were lucky - only one day was completely wasted due to wall of clouds. Defintely worth to hike in Allmendhubel through Flower trail and Blumental valley.
The village is very beautiful and cosy. It is car free and one needs to take a train to get there. Public transport in Switzerland is excellent and the ride is very scenic, surrounded by the amazing Swiss alps.
We loved Hotel Edelweiss! Upon arrival we were very quietly upgraded to a room with a spectacular view. The attention and helpfulness from Dominika was superb. The obvious pride Sandra and Daniel have in their hotel and the running of it is beyond compare. They were there at 7:30 breakfast, which was delish and still there at 7:00pm dinner, which was outstanding. Daniel kindly gave us a ride this morning to the cable car as it was starting to rain. We would return in a heartbeat to this wonderful accommodation.
The view and location are great. We paid extra for a room with a view and balcony, but could hardly enjoy it, because the person next to us smoked early morning, afternoon, before dinner, after dinner. The smoke came into our room even after closing the door. It completely ruined the experience and our stay. If that wasn’t bad enough, the walls are so thin that we were forced to listen to our neighbors tv until midnight each night. Murren was ruined for us. We will not be back.
The view is extra special because nothing only do you have a perfect view of the dramatic landscape and impressive cliffs from just about every room of the hotel, but you also get a view of the rest of the beautiful town. The location is perfection, after a long hike it’s so nice to know the hotel is just steps away from the cable car. Whether you are going up or down the cable car, you are as close as you could possibly get.
Mürren
The customer service was amazing. We were greeted warmly and very well taken care of for hotel and restaurant. The use of space in the bunk bed room is smart, the room was a bit small for 4 but the cubby storage and hooks and drawers really made it possible. The food at the restaurant for dinner was good. Breakfast was filling, prompt and even early one day so we could catch the early tram.
Mürren
Fantastic view of "Eiger, Mönch, Jungfrau" mountains! The room was sparkly clean, new, and had all that we wanted. We ate a very nice dinner in the restaurant. A rich breakfast was served (until 10am!) with eggs, fresh bread, croissants, jogurt and müsli etc. The owner, Jeanette, was very friendly and helpful. We can highly recommend a stay at Hotel Alpenblick.

This is a great historical hotel with a lot of personality. The room was lovely with nice views of Mürren. Breakfast was the best we encountered on our entire trip with many delicious choices.
Really comfortable bed, excellent and clean room/bathroom. Breakfast was great too. Murren is a great place to base yourself and this hotel has everything you need. Staff were lovely.

Liked the fact that there was a kitchen. Something that comes handy in Switzerland given the expensive food. Was able to prepare us dinner in our second night and breakfast.
