Tamarindo is a nice sized beach town along the Pacific coast. It is within an 1.5 hour drive from the Liberia international airport and the roads are paved the entire way. Within the town there are many restaurants, shops, hotels, bars, and surf shops. It was an easy town to walk around in as everything was close. We surfed 6 of the 7 days and took private lessons with La Muda Surf School. Highly recommend this school as they were professional, very helpful and friendly. We improved our skills a lot over those 6 days. Our favorite restaurant (which is hard to choose as there are many) was the Green Papaya Taco Bar. They had the best ceviche and tacos. Will come back.

Tamarindo is great place to stay.
Tamarindo is great place to stay. It is the hub for so many day tours. It has good places to eat. And as with most of Costa Rica, the people are warm and friendly.
About the only possible negative I can think of is that the town of Tamarindo is bustling with people, beachgoers and a few beach bums.

Tamarindo is definitely a must for your Costa Rica vacation,...
Tamarindo is definitely a must for your Costa Rica vacation, especially scuba diving in Islas Catalinas. We, family of 4 with 2 teenagers visited Costa Rica late August 2024 for 12 days. We flew into San Jose, got a rental from Vamos and drove to Uvita, launch point to Cano Island for a scuba trip, which was not really the logistics and cost. We then spent 2 days at Manuel Antonio National Park and scuba dived there too but couldn't see anything at the national park. Current was too strong. We then drove up to La Fortuna and spent the next 4 days doing the usual tourist stuff: class 4 whitewater rafting, repelling down waterfalls, La Fortuna Waterfall hike, wakeboarding at Lake Arenal and ended at Tamarindo, which pleasantly surprised with world class beaches, a chill surfer's vibe and fantastic scuba diving at the Catalina Islands, which had great visibility and sea-life. We also learned how to surf on the gentle breaks on Playa Tamarindo where there were no corals or rocks that can shred beginner surfers. We fly back home from Liberia airport, which is only a 2 hr drive from Tamarindo.
The raining season worried us, but it mostly occurred during the afternoon in Arenal and

We liked Tamarindo Beach, the people are helpful and very nice. The market place was great on Saturday. The food was good. We went fishing and the only boat to catch fish. I caught Red Snapper and Spotted Mackerel. A few bone fish. Walter's cooked our catch and we did happy hour there. They have a Howling Monkey that comes to visit every night. There was plenty of shopping for the ladies. We also visited Flamingo Beach, less going on there.

Favela Chic is in a great location within walking distance ( or free bicycle ride) to Tamarindo. Close to great restaurants, the beach and shops. Very friendly people with most of them able to speak English or direct me to someone who could. Would like to return soon.

This was a lovely little oasis in the midst of busy Tamarindo. The hotel has lots of character and a lot of love and care goes into maintaining the property. The staff were so lovely and welcoming and made me feel completely at home during my stay as a solo female traveller. The rooms are clean and well kept. The breakfast is excellent and the grounds are beautiful! I loved it so much I even booked an extra nights stay for my last evening in Costa Rica. I would definitely recommend for couples, solo travellers and families alike.
Best kept hotel I have ever been at - the whole staff works hard and it shows! The entire place was spotless (would have eaten off of the floor). Staff were all very kind. Really appreciated the ambiant sounds played near the pool - we felt like we were staying at a spa, which was very relaxing. If you want to stay in an oasis of calm in the heart of the bustling city of Tamarindo - I highly recommend this hotel! Bonus: spotting monkeys a few meters away when eating breakfast.
I was very pleased with the location along the main drag just minutes away from Tamarindo Beach and town.. I was so impressed with the hospitality and attention from the owner of this hotel.
Safe wise, there was no issue at all. Very safe place to stay.
The suite I stayed had all one can ask for immaculate cleanness, a big comfortable bad, full kitchen and beautiful decor .
Definitely, this is a hotel. I'll stay in next time I visit Tamarindo.
A very nice hotel about 2km far from the Tamarindo town centre, within its quiet part. Its location is really CLOSE to the beach. We stayed there 2 nights.
We had a perfect breakfast there.
We liked the hotel itself, its a bit "rustic" style. Everything as presented.
Communication with Susana was perfect (dinning tips, advices, ...).
This beautiful boutique hotel is fantastic. A short 5 minute walk from the heart of Tamarindo with stylish rooms (which are also massive). The breakfast alone is worth the visit, the manager is a master of eggs!
