My stay at Schwarzwaldhotel Sonne in Baden-Baden was truly one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment I arrived, I could tell this place was special. The location is breathtaking, with my room on the second floor offering a stunning view of the river. Despite the absence of an elevator, this was hardly an issue, as the beauty of the surroundings and the comfort of the room more than made up for it.
The staff were absolutely exceptional. They were always available, incredibly professional, and went above and beyond to make my stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Their friendliness and attention to detail really stood out, and I felt genuinely cared for during my entire stay.
Breakfast was a delightful experience every morning, with a wide variety of fresh, delicious options that catered to all tastes. It was such a pleasure to start my day with a wonderful meal while enjoying the peaceful, scenic view.
The room itself was impeccably clean and well-organized, with every comfort I could have hoped for. One of my favorite moments was sitting on the balcony, sipping my morning coffee, and watching the river flow by as birds chirped in the background. It was a magical, serene experience that I won’t soon forget.
If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life, this hotel is the perfect place. The location, the views, the service, and the cleanliness were all beyond my expectations. I’ll definitely be returning to this hotel the next time I visit Baden-Baden.

Baden-Baden is a beautiful resort town. The architecture and natural surroundings are well worth a visit. The main draw is the two major spas (Fredreichbaths and Caracalla Spa). The latter is more mainstream, with a large modern spa facility, the former is a traditional roman style bath experience. The entire city is very walkable, and you would only need to use a vehicle to get from the station to the central area.
Baden-Baden is a playground for the wealthy, and as such expect ~30% increase in the price of activities, food and lodgings compared to other areas of Germany. The town is a favorite of the older generations, making it less of a draw for backpackers or younger people looking to be social or meet the locals. There is a lack of nightlife or social events, but the casino and ballet make it great for those looking to take a luxury getaway.

Baden-Baden really is a lovely town.
Baden-Baden really is a lovely town. The old castle and the Mekur mountain railway are each about an hour on foot (uphill)! Lichentaller allee is a tree lined walk along the river, passing many stunning properties, a rose garden and a dahlia garden. Plenty of restaurants and great beer to round off the days sightseeing.

This is the ideal location to start a tour of the Black Forest via the B500 scenic road, which is an attraction in itself. Our next stay was at Furtwangen on the southern end of the B500. This area allows access to lakes, views, history, etc

Park and Ride was handy, but beware return bus appears to be hourly so you may need to work around this. Baden-Barden is a lovely town with lots to see and do. We had limited time, but enjoyed strolling through the Lichtentaler Allee

Found Baden Baden very interesting and definitely didn't stay long enough. So much to do in the centre as well as the beautiful surrounding forest with lots of access to well signposted walks. The restaurants were very welcoming with delicious local foods. Would have liked to use the thermal baths, but ran out of time!
The excellent and quiet location in the old town of Baden Baden directly across from the Friedrichsbad. My single room was a larger size and they gave me my room request on an upper floor. I appreciated that the hotel has an elevator.
The breakfast buffet is in a well appointed room and the server brings a jug of coffee to your table. This is a nice touch as many places now have those self serve, push a button coffee machines. Fresh rolls, muesli, boiled eggs, sliced meats, tomatoes, cucumbers, yogurts, cheeses, juice are all on offer.
We had to book a room last minute because of issues with our original hotel and the staff was extremely helpful in letting us check in late. The room was very nice and clean, and the breakfast buffet was great. It’s near a bus stop, so it’s easy to get to with transit (and the bus line that runs there also goes to/from Baden-Baden’s train station directly). Staff was very friendly and gave great tips on exploring the region. Would happily stay here again.
The hotel is in the centre of Baden-Baden and just a minutes walk to some of the restaurants and bars that are there. The breakfast was basic but there was enough to choose from. Our room was quite spacious, clean, bed sheets felt very clean and fresh and the bed was very comfy.
Quiet hotel in an attractive village location, 10km from Baden Baden. Good room, excellent breakfast and plenty of parking. Staff were friendly and helpful. There was a bus stop very close for easy access to Baden Baden. Stayed for two nights and would definitely stay again.
I loved this hotel, and had a wonderful room. It was a short walk to the Friederichsbad and Caracalla spas, and I walked along the river and through the shopping district of Baden-Baden. I'd go there again in a heartbeat.
