In these days of relatively cheap air travel, it's very easy...
In these days of relatively cheap air travel, it's very easy to dismiss a beach holiday in NW Germany in favour of a more exotic location - but if you are looking for a "back to roots" (not basics!!) disconnect, this is the place for you.
Pros : wide range of accomodation options (from budget self-catered apartments/homes to fully managed hotel rooms with many stars and sea view) - all with access to the same
- watt/sand beaches
- numerous bakeries (nom nom)
- fish restaurants (nom nom)
- ice cream parlours (nom nom)
- traditional German cuisine (nom nom)
- shopping options
- walking routes
- surf school
- etc
Cons : Way too easy to fall into a "holiday pattern" with a solid and yummy breakfast, a little walk, lunch, a little shop, dinner, then cocktails at the Landgang.
Gets a bit samey by day 5. So make sure you make plans to break the monotony, for example:
- day trip to Helgoland (tax free shopping woo)
- bike the dyke (north / south, long routes possible)
- windsurf (open sea / train in the lagoon)
- landsurf in Peter Sankt Ording
- visit the sealife sanctuary
- kart-track day
Honestly, plan things to do, b/c the temptations of Mühlen Backer brötchen, icecream, Jever beer, Basil smash, schnitzel, fish, caffee & kuchen (etc) are WAY too easily satisfied. And that means you might need a longer belt.
As a disconnect place, it's damn near perfect, and if the weather holds out, it's f-ing glorious.

Buesum was a nice town, typical German seaside town, with a lot of pedestrianised streets and places to eat, very quiet from a traffic point of view, and a long promenade with beach huts and expanses of sand at low tide.

Seaside resort offering lots of options for spending free times; It is definitely worth taking a boat trip to the island of Helgoland. From restaurants I would recommend Ralfs, next to the hotel Haus am Meer (I recommend booking in advance) or Trattoria restaurant, which is about 700m from Haus am Meer. And definitely don't forget the fish in a bun :-), the closest and excellent one is by the dam, 2min from Haus am Meer

The city is in general an excellent place to go if you are looking for a quiet Nordsee Experience. The city is small enough to just walk. There is a sufficient amount of places to eat like Roni Döner & Feinkost and Asia Restaurant Thanh Binh. A nice option for swimming, like Familienlagune Perlebucht. There are even decent bars with delicious cocktails like Café & Bar WAVE.

Before coming to Büsum it is worth to learn about some available attractions there (like boat tours, renting bikes for longer trips, swimming pool). In the town there are plenty of caffes and restaurants, but there is not that much for those who prefer to spent active holidays. Luckily, bike rental is easily available as well as boat tours.
Walking around Busum is easy - town is charming and pleasant

The Apartment was perfect. Everything we needed was there and in immaculate condition. Beds, chairs and couch were super comfortable. Communication with the landlord was quick, Easy and very friendly. The selection of board games was a nice bonus and the chocolate on the bed was a sweet gesture. If we visit Büsum next year, we will definitely book Surf Bude again!

The hotel is located just only 12 mins walk from the büsum station,10 mins walk to the main beach.the hotel has lovely character. The staff is really nice and helpful.. Really enjoyed our small vacation.
Definitely come back again. Thank you for the champagne.

It was the perfect location. Very close to the beach and right in the middle of Busum. The property is in a quiet street so there was no disturbances.
