Very friendly staff. Super good location to start your daily hike. Located right near the Lilienstein it's just a short Hike up.

Luxurious room overlooking the castle, and a restaurant/ inn feel at the front, where with the other guests we could drink and eat, and enjoy the quiet evenings after all the castle visitors have headed off. Very extensive breakfast buffet in the morning to fuel you for the days adventure. The hotel is also part of the scheme where you get a pass for local buses, trains and ferries. It’s brilliant- absolutely the best way to explore the region and cut down on traffic. Evening BBQ on second night may have been a one-off - it was certainly a great way to end another days walking!

The staff. Excellent, as always. This wasn't my first time at this hotel. Nor the last one. But the first time when I arrived during a huge thunderstorm without electricity etc. No problem for the people at the desk at all. Creative, fun way how to solve the problem. I loved the stay here again. And the superb breakfast, too, of course. Looking forward to stop there next time.

Everything; the quiet surroundings, the room, the breakfast, the helpful staff

There is so much that I might run out of space. The owner has an incredible eye for detail. Everything exudes harmony and is tailored to the guests needs. The food is amazing. We ate at the restaurant twice. Incredible! The rooms are decorated country style. Lot s of natural wood around. The bathroom is just the right size and well thought through. Complimentary water is served in as still, medium, or fully carbonated. I totally recommend this place. Owners and staff are very friendly. We’ll be back :)

Beautiful location, exceptional staff, extensive breakfast and comfortable bed

This HOTEL was one of the best I've stayed in during my cycle tip along the river Elbe. This Hotel has kept the charme and grandeur of the former East German Regime's Ministerial Guest House (which it was before re-unification). I'm glad that it wasn't brutally destroyed and refurbished to Western Standards. The entry Hall is great, the various rooms for music and sports activities are great and the rooms really have kept GDR charm, with big and comfy beds great bathrooms, niche chairs in the room and everything a traveller could wish for. As usual I wish they can take the TV out of the room and replace it with a Radio or Stereo, but I guess I'm a bit old-fashioned when it comes to that (and I never watch TV and prefer to listen to music). Breakfast and the Restaurant are in a separate building, and here again you will find the grandeur of former GDR hospitality. Nice ambience surrounded by trees and a very rich breakfast menu that offered everything anyone could wish for - if it wasn't on the menu the friendly staff tried their best to make what you wanted. Hotel staff where extremely friendly and helpful. Schostakowisch stayed there in the 60's and finished his C-minor OP110 piece there. I will certainly come back for a longer stay one day!

Breakfast had a nice selection with coffee and cream already at the table reserved for your room Hotel is close to the train station within a 3 minute walk. They give you a ticket for the ferry to explore the other side of the river where the Bastei is located The hotel features an excellent restaurant with delicious food. Staff were friendly and helpful

Really good apartments. Check-in was smooth. The hotel has a restaurant where you can enjoy a delicious meal. Breakfast was good. Free parking is available outside the hotel.

My son and I were completing the Malerweg and decided to finish Day 7 at Stadt Wehlen (Completing stage 7 and part of stage 8). Kurort Rathen is a short train ride from Stadt Wehlen (Free if you have the Gastkarte), and then a ferry ride across the Rhine. We arrived late in the evening (after the restaurant had closed) and as we were booked for half-board, the staff had provided two lovely salads which were waiting for us in our room. We received a very warm welcome when we eventually arrived. The room was clean and comfortable. I really liked the swimming pool, and great breakfast. If I had known how good the hotel was I would have extended Day 1 on the outward trek and stayed here (Just a short distance off route), and then returned on Day 7. Lovely hotel, thoroughly recommended.

Great place with a very helpful staff :) very good food, nearby parking spot, comfortable beds and great toiletries:) Access to saunas and pool is a very nice amenity:)

Everything was PERFECT, my husband and I loved it! The city is incredibly romantic, close to the Bastei Brücke trail. The staff was really nice, the room was beautiful, and the installations incredible. We used the sauna every evening and it was really nice to relax after so much walking. I have to say the breakfast was great, but the dinner in the restaurant was extraordinary! We also brought our corgi puppy and it went very well.

Location is the star attraction! Great base for walking in the area. We were kindly given a room looking over the valley and beautiful scenery, thank you! Minibar with great selection of complimentary drinks, wonderful. And the breakfast was extensive and very good. Loved staying here.

Friendly staff, quiet, good location and food.

Great accommodation, decent breakfast (nothing fancy, but everything you need in the morning to start your day) and a very lovely owner that always helps with all your requests. The location is also awesome with Lidl just down the road and all Saxon Switzerland spots available within a day's hike.

Excfellent value that included breakfast. The room was spacious and larger than expected with a balcony. The room was clean and easy to ventilate via balcony doors and a window. Breakfast had a good range of food with some cooked and delicious bread rolls. The location is excellent in the centre of town and close to the ferry for the train station. The complimentary regional card was emailed to us and was a nice surprise to enable a lot of free local travel in the area.

December, the hotel is cosy, warm. The sauna is nice and well equipped. The beautiful landscape. This is the spa.

Very good hotel. The staff was very nice and friendly. The breakfast was tasty and it varied throughout different days. The room was pretty big and very clean. The bed was comfortable. Location is also good, pretty much everything in walking distance. The railway station is 25 minutes away, but you can use bus/ship to get there if you want to.
