Schwerin is a magical location in northern Germany, idyllic, peaceful, outstandingly beautiful. It’s easy to make it one’s home base as other sites in northern Germany are visited. Do not miss the castle and gardens. Besides the breakfast at Weinhaus Uhle, Cafe Prag is delightful. Do not pass up the poppyseed kucken in the mouth-watering bakeries.

Schwerin is an exceptionally picturesque place — a tidy, clean, and wonderfully pleasant German town. Its lakes, the castle, the museum, the town hall, the market square, the cathedral, and the shopping centres together form a charming collection of attractions. Public transport, with its efficient buses and trams, makes getting around easy. It’s an ideal destination to spend a couple of days and soak in the beauty and character of this delightful German town.

Really worth a visit at any time of the year. Beautiful town center with the palace as main attraction. Good for water activities like kayaking in the summer. Nice Christmas Market in the month of December.

I had stayed in Schwerin some twenty years ago and always...
I had stayed in Schwerin some twenty years ago and always had wanted to come back. I enjoyed my second stay very much - just wish the weather had been better for us to have more walks along the water and in the delightful old town. I warmly recommend Schwerin to anyone wishing to explore this wonderful region of Germany. Restaurants serve excellent German food, the canals and lakes are idyllic, and of course there is the famous fairytale castle to visit: all in all many reasons to plan a stay in Schwerin.

Very small and cute, plenty of options for food and drinks...
Very small and cute, plenty of options for food and drinks and the Castle is just superb! Fantastic for a short romantic getaway or a trip for one's self and relaxation in nature. Very easy to get to with train from Berlin. And you don't have to use the public transport, although it is easy to use and on time.

Location is perfect, right across the road from the HBF station. Easy walking distance to sights. Room was spacious, spotless, warm & comfortable. Communication with proprietor was easy and all msgs replied to in a very timely manner. Well worth every euro after ‘another’ cheaper hotel revealed at checkin that they didn’t have wifi in their rooms. No such problem here. I was also able to leave my bag for a couple of hrs after checkout 👍👍

clear instructions and easy to find key safe. apartment was clean, good location. Easy access. Everything needed was there and everything works. Sadly weather was cold and wet, so I could not use terrace that looked nice. No complains, will use again if travelling in Schwerin. Highly recommended.
