Clean and comfortable, with friendly, helpful staff. The restaurant and the breakfast are both excellent, and the bar has a useful selection of Danish whisky. Even with luggage, the hotel is within easy walking distance of the Aarhus Central Station (there's a shortcut through the "Bruun's Galleri shopping center). Likewise, the center of Aarhus, including the cafes and restaurants around the canal, is easily reached on foot.

FAQs about hotels in Aarhus

Always Raising a Smile

The City of Smiles, Århus (or Aarhus as it’s now officially known) has been around longer than any other Scandinavian city, so has had plenty of time to accumulate attractions and eateries. Its vibrant music scene and nightlife are popular with Denmark’s largest student population, and the University Park features the excellent Steno Museum and Natural History Museum.

Weird and wonderful artworks adorn the multi-coloured ARoS museum, and artefacts in the Viking Museum are on the site where they were discovered, alongside copies of exhibits from the Moesgård Museum, located in a forest south of the city centre (closed until 2014). At the heart of the neighbouring park is Marselisborg Palace, the Danish monarch’s summer residence.

The botanical gardens are opposite the Old Town, which is not actually the historic centre but rather a colourful collection of half-timbered buildings from all over Denmark, set around a pond.

Shops and pavement cafes line the Aarhus River which enters the sea by the large port which has contributed significantly to the city’s success. Overlooking it are the ultra-modern Isbjerget apartments, resembling peaks of icebergs. Also innovatively designed is the Modernist town hall, and Aarhus Cathedral has the country’s tallest spire and longest nave.

Booking.com’s accommodation options range from beachfront hotels to cheap hostels and apartments near Aarhus Airport.

I had no idea about Aarhus what so ever as all I wanted and came for was the new Sky Space by James Turell in the ARoS museum. But found out it is a fantastic city. Easy to get about by foot, great architecture, clean, safe and lots of nice little places to eat or drink something. Friendly, fit people and lots of bikes. Almost awkwardly feel a bit at home (I'm from Amsterdam). Turell was mesmerising and really beautiful, worth of the 900km drive. Told multiple friends that this is our next long-weekend trip!

I visited the cathedral and climb the bell tower, the art museum with the "rainbow top", the "Den Gamle By" and walked among the streets with old and new buildings. it is a wonderful city to visit. The most impressive to me is when I climb to the bell tower of the cathedral, I was the only one (at 12 noon) and the bell rings. Such a wonderful moment that you hear and the bell rings and watched the ancient street down. It is a feeling that you went back several decades back. I don't know why there are not many climbers there, it only costs 20 DDK, and the staff is not always on the desk but when you call, he will stop by quickly and show you the way to climb up. Another very impressive enterprise I visited is "Den Gamle By", it is a historical street reconstruction covering Aarhus histories since 1650 to 2014. They put out furnitures correspondent to the specific time of each building. I hope I have more time to read the descriptions in much more detail. One building that reflects 6 residential units in one apartment building impressed me the most. It shows how each family cook, use toilet, dry their laundry; in the attic area, a guy (Arne Sjorslev) caved out a small room as his radio enthusiastic workshop from 1971 to 2012. Another impressive piece of history is that, there is a reconstructed post that selling newspapers in the early 20 th century; it even has a newspaper display frame on a nearby wall. That makes me feel so familiar as I was ready newspapers on public walls as recent as 1980s (in China). So I get closer to those papers on wall and try to find out the year of the paper. It shows to me it was in 1921. Anyway, this impressed me a lot. Have a great time in Aarhus.

We enjoyed Aarhus, most so the area around Aarhus Cathedral and theater. Also the old town, Den Gamle By, is absolutely beautiful.. Very insightful trip of the harbor at its architectural wonders, however without enough outside seating. We do think though that the "famous" area at the channel where everybody meets, Vadestedet, is not clean enough, especially around the ice cream shop. Ice cream cups are everywhere as there were neither enough garbage cans nor anybody cleans it. There was often the line in front of the shop, obviously a favorite shop of Aarhus. Maybe owner or manager of the shop should take care or organize care of the garbage around the shop. As it really ruins the impression of Aarhus. Moreover gulls pick up the garbage (which belongs to the shop), and spread it around the shop. The other problem that city may address is that everything is full of droppings of the gulls, benches, chairs, channel etc.

Aarhus (3) nights was perfect.

Aarhus (3) nights was perfect. From the Int’l arrivals in Copenhagen can get a direct train to Aarhus. Perfect for recovering from jet lag. Easy to get around, Denmark’s 2nd largest city, gateway to Jutland (West Coast), & what they refer to as their “Wild West.”

It was a pleasant surprise. There were beautiful places in Aarhus. We went on the rooftop of a department store to a park, restaurant and a see through observation deck with a clear floor 7 stories up! We enjoyed sitting by the harbor. This city has many surprises.

Aarhus is a beautiful, clean, and welcoming city with a relaxed atmosphere. I especially enjoyed visiting the ARoS Art Museum, walking around the city center, and exploring the waterfront. There are many great cafés and restaurants, and it is very easy to get around on foot, by bike, or using public transportation. The city feels safe and is an excellent destination for solo travelers. If I had to mention one downside, it would be that Denmark is quite expensive, but the overall experience was absolutely worth it. I would happily visit Aarhus again.

My family and I loved staying at the Hidden Courtyard Loft. The position of the accommodation was perfect to reach all attractions in Aarhus while being away from the chaos of the city. Moreover, the accommodation itself was both comfortable and cozy. We particularly liked the living room space and the kitchen, which were equipped with all necessary items. We highly recommend it!

Excellent hotel in the city centre five minutes walk from the bus stop that arrives from the Aarhus airport. Other bus stops and light train station five minutes walk. This hotel is also surrounded by burger king (next door) and other good restaurants are at a walking distance. There is also a shopping mall and shops behind the hotel. Overall excellent hotel will stay again

Comfortable room with a lovely view. Decent breakfast, even for a vegan. We brought bikes and the city of Aarhus was an easy 10 minute ride away on a flat bike path. We swam every day in front of the hotel from the sandy beach with a view of the city. The staff were very helpful and of course spoke excellent English.
