Beautifully curated apartment (like living in a gallery for a few days!) in a great location for exploring the city on foot which we did! Would also recommend the harbour boat trip and the art gallery.

Great central place and easy to get around on foot. Loved the attention to detail with furnishings, paintings etc. Lovely jazz playing in the foyer continuously, capacity to leave the key (very large) with the concierge so it could be retrieved later. The staff were really helpful, and friendly. Old fashioned service - I was sitting waiting for work colleagues and one staff member offered to make me a cup of tea while I waited. I really appreciated the attention to detail and care.

FAQs about hotels in Aarhus

Always Raising a Smile

The City of Smiles, Århus (or Aarhus as it’s now officially known) has been around longer than any other Scandinavian city, so has had plenty of time to accumulate attractions and eateries. Its vibrant music scene and nightlife are popular with Denmark’s largest student population, and the University Park features the excellent Steno Museum and Natural History Museum.

Weird and wonderful artworks adorn the multi-coloured ARoS museum, and artefacts in the Viking Museum are on the site where they were discovered, alongside copies of exhibits from the Moesgård Museum, located in a forest south of the city centre (closed until 2014). At the heart of the neighbouring park is Marselisborg Palace, the Danish monarch’s summer residence.

The botanical gardens are opposite the Old Town, which is not actually the historic centre but rather a colourful collection of half-timbered buildings from all over Denmark, set around a pond.

Shops and pavement cafes line the Aarhus River which enters the sea by the large port which has contributed significantly to the city’s success. Overlooking it are the ultra-modern Isbjerget apartments, resembling peaks of icebergs. Also innovatively designed is the Modernist town hall, and Aarhus Cathedral has the country’s tallest spire and longest nave.

Booking.com’s accommodation options range from beachfront hotels to cheap hostels and apartments near Aarhus Airport.

We enjoyed Aarhus, most so the area around Aarhus Cathedral and theater. Also the old town, Den Gamle By, is absolutely beautiful.. Very insightful trip of the harbor at its architectural wonders, however without enough outside seating. We do think though that the "famous" area at the channel where everybody meets, Vadestedet, is not clean enough, especially around the ice cream shop. Ice cream cups are everywhere as there were neither enough garbage cans nor anybody cleans it. There was often the line in front of the shop, obviously a favorite shop of Aarhus. Maybe owner or manager of the shop should take care or organize care of the garbage around the shop. As it really ruins the impression of Aarhus. Moreover gulls pick up the garbage (which belongs to the shop), and spread it around the shop. The other problem that city may address is that everything is full of droppings of the gulls, benches, chairs, channel etc.

Aarhus (3) nights was perfect.

Aarhus (3) nights was perfect. From the Int’l arrivals in Copenhagen can get a direct train to Aarhus. Perfect for recovering from jet lag. Easy to get around, Denmark’s 2nd largest city, gateway to Jutland (West Coast), & what they refer to as their “Wild West.”

It was a pleasant surprise.

It was a pleasant surprise. There were beautiful places in Aarhus. We went on the rooftop of a department store to a park, restaurant and a see through observation deck with a clear floor 7 stories up! We enjoyed sitting by the harbor. This city has many surprises.

Aarhus is a beautiful, clean, and welcoming city with a relaxed atmosphere. I especially enjoyed visiting the ARoS Art Museum, walking around the city center, and exploring the waterfront. There are many great cafés and restaurants, and it is very easy to get around on foot, by bike, or using public transportation. The city feels safe and is an excellent destination for solo travelers. If I had to mention one downside, it would be that Denmark is quite expensive, but the overall experience was absolutely worth it. I would happily visit Aarhus again.

Before going to Aarhus I didn't find much tourist information on internet but it is a very lively interesting city with more than enough places worth a visit. When in Copenhagen and Odense my bank card got everywhere accepted, it wasn't the case in Aarhus. My bank card got refused in 2-3 places but luckily I had Danish cash on me. A huge issue : you only can buy a ticket for the Letbanen (other trains than DSB) via the rejskort app. Not physical, not via a machine. It was refusing my 3 Belgian bankcards (Visa, World Platinum Mastercard and my normal bank card). I would have loved to go to Grenaa and I couldn't because there was no way to buy a ticket.

Lovely vibe, relaxed, lots to see and do in the city and outside. Not a trad tourist spot, which makes it even better. I can see why people move to Aarhus from Copenhagen or other cities. Just a great place

The hotel is in a very good location, around a 20 min walk from the centre of Aarhus. The location by the harbour is very nice surrounded by water and very good restaurants. The room itself was comfortable, light and spacious with a beautiful view of the sea. Breakfast was basic but enough offer of bread, cheese, egg, salami, coffee/tea/hot chocolate, jam and butter, yoghurt and juice. Nothing fancy but it was ok. Finally, the hotel is kept very clean.

Didn’t have the breakfasts, thought they were rather expensive. The location was excellent - walkable to all the sights in Aarhus, plus the town centre, and beside the wonderful ARoS centre. Hotel rooms housed in amazing building and loved being on the 10th floor (ordinary not superior rooms) with a view. Staff were really friendly and helpful.
