Having never been to this area of Denmark I was most impressed with what Aalborg has to offer. The central core has many interesting historic features, is very walkable, has good pedestrian access and a wide range of services.
I found the Lonely Planet "Denmark & the Faroe Islands" to be most helpful in providing an overview of Aalborg.
Being on the fjord is an extra plus along with the revitalized harbour front amenities.

Aalborg is interesting but not a must-see city that gives a perspective on North Jutland's geography. It has a student feel. Plan your visit for Tuesday-Saturday, as many museums are closed Sunday and Monday.

Aalborg is clean and efficient and a nice place to visit if, like me, you have to go on a business visit. Good transport links to the airport (just 10 minutes by train) and seems easy to get around on foot. Food is fine and everyone seems to speak perfect English! Take a sweater or cardigan for the evenings!

It's a small cute city.
It's a small cute city. Easy to walk around and very friendly. If I had an extra day I would have ventured out to see egholm and possibly the zoo. But I was happy strolling the river in the evening and walking around the town int he time I was here. Check out the colourful houses and coffee shops

Aalborg is a very friendly city to the visitors.
Aalborg is a very friendly city to the visitors. There are many nice cafes, Penny Lane is one of them.
There are many parks and beautiful lakes.
It is cheaper than Copenhagen but still expensive for people coming form the south of Europe.
If the weather is nice is a fantastic city for those who do not like much the noise of bigger cities and there is everything one needs.

Aalborg has a nice and modern city center for shopping, eating out or a walk along the water front. Even cruise ships anchor here. There are several parks and recreational area's with a pleasant atmosphere: The zoo, harbour area, Sauna's with a view over the water and nearby island.
The city is well equiped with cycling track and you should definitly explore the town by bike. The center was not to busy , so enjoy walking around as well.

Centrally located charming hotel. Everything worth seeing in Aalborg is within walking distance. This also applies to the nearby parking garage (Q-Park Palads) where the hotel provides a 50% discount. It must yet be said that the hotel is located in a narrow rather student-like street with numerous beer bars, but (needs also to be said) we were not bothered by this at all (we had a room at the back, away from the street). The comfort and breakfast are rather basic, but OK for most people.

The staff was AMAZING. Very generous and helpful, we were late for breakfast because of a late flight and they organized something for us. Also helped us out with some yogurt to feed the little one (for money of course). Really nice people, always smiling, I guess the atmosphere for the workers is supportive and this influences their attitudes. Or maybe we just got a good day, who knows. Anyway, it was a really nice way to return to Denmark.

This is a nice hotel within a comfortable walking distance of the city centre. You can park outside and EasyPark is a great parking app you can use there ... and in the rest of the Nordics. We also used Aalborg as a base to drive to Skagen and back - we did it comfortably in a day. The breakfast was also nice.
