I love Puerto Plata, the people are friendly.

I love Puerto Plata, the people are friendly. Smile and they will always respond in kind. Be careful to not wear expensive jewelery on display as petty crime exists in less tourist areas, and cover your all inclusive band while out as you will be seen as a rich american and pestered.

I love the people of San Felipe de Puerto Plata and I love the beaches. It is a safe place and beauty everywhere with lots to do. I love the downtown area with its many attractions like umbrella street, Paseo de Dona Blanca or pink place, Parque Central and also the many restaurants in the area. One of my favorites is El Patio de Frida. A nice casual Mexican restaurant near the downtown area and also Casa 40 is another one near by.

I enjoyed the beach, pool and serenity.

I enjoyed the beach, pool and serenity. I felt secure with the gated entry and security guard on duty. A list of shopping and dining locations screened by the owner would have been useful, but we vetured and survived. People were friendly and not too aggressive.

Facility was ok. Service was horrendous.

Facility was ok. Service was horrendous. They advertise 3 restaurant however only 1 available per day which required reservations but not available. Food was not very good and very limited options. Bar service - only draft beer and not very good. Bottle beer was additional, even President which should have been inclusive. No mini bar service! Would definitely not be back!!

If you come here stay at the iberostar or playa Dorado you can stay and feel better about grand paradise blue bay . The beaches are better in Sosua and I mostly prefer Cabarate. Playa Dorado beach is ok . Some white sand. Sosua is half an hour away and Cabarate is 36 mins away from puerto plata. If you come stay at 4 or 5 stars the food is better there. . I stayed at Live Marian but as soon as I got there they pressure you to go to a presentation to purchase life time vacations. The food was not good at all there.. I told them I already I own 2 Timeshares and I don't need a 3rd. Property needs to be updated. The swimming pool was fine but the beach area had not been cleaned. Seaweeds all over. No complaints about Puerto Plata . Just stay at 5 stars to enjoy your trip if you want to have good food and relaxation. The best place to visit is Cayo De arena if you like snorkeling or go to Las Galeras best diving there. It's 3 hrs by car from Puerto Plata.. the best beaches are Playa grande Playa Rincon and Playa Calera in Las Galera a small fishing village 40 min north of samana. You can find a good Bed and Breakfast from 30 to 60 dollars a night.

I will never stay in this resort.

I will never stay in this resort. Breakfast Saturday morning I went to the grill where they make the eggs. I asked for 3 over light for 5 seconds. He did not take off. So I told him to take off. Instead of taking off he got me 5 more eggs. This man could not speak any English and should not be making food. I guess I did not see many Americans, Canadians or Germans there the word got out.

This is my first visit to the Dominican Republic and I did not come for the resorts. My interest is coming was to investigate the local history and practice speaking Spanish. This guesthouse could not have been a better place for me to stay. It is in the centro historico and close to my areas of interest. It’s is a very peaceful location and the staff are very friendly and helpful. This is a great place for families or for any traveler looking for a low key, tranquil atmosphere. I hope to return here for future visits to Puerto Plata.

Hotel had very good food, the premises were amazing, however, the staff is disrespectful and sexualized woman, I was walking in my swimsuit at the pool and and employee kept looking at me, I looked at him directly and when he realized he got scared, I was also walking towards my room and a employee thought it was okay to shout “Mami chula”, when ordering drinks at the bar (the very first drink) employees were treating people like they were asking for favors, other than that LOVED THE FOOD AND THE ROOM

We spent 6 nights at Royal Terrace (3 more than originally booked). Our apartment was very comfortable, well-equipped, and tastefully decorated. Our welcoming and considerate hosts, Hector and Marta made sure we had everything we needed. In fact, Hector drove to 'rescue' us when we accidentally arrived at the wrong address; this was our error... there is more than one Calle 6 in that part of Puerto Plata, so be careful if using Google Maps to guide you.

Very calm place. Good location to sightseeing - Old Town ~2km, 27 Waterfalls ~20km. WiFi available in all areas and it is fast. Rooms are small but enough to live - bathroom, wardrobe, bed, table and two chairs is enough for rest after tiring day. Included breakfast are delicious but should be bigger (eggs, fruits, toasts, caffee). Unlimited drinking water and fridge available for all users. Price is unbelievable!

The position is 40m from the center of the old town and offers a free private parking spot. I loved the hotel because it is really unique: colorful, full of fantasy and spacious. The owners are very kind and listened to each of my request, therefore I want to say a big thank you to them for the amazing experience I had. Keep going like that!

Staff was unpleasant and homophobic but this was my overall experience in the Dominican Republic cheated and overcharged every step of the way wouldn't send my enemy to this country I hope to never return. The moment they realize English speakers will be treated differently and mistreated and robbed every step of the way.

Staff tried to be helpful and showed us the room before we committed to staying. Proprietor helped us find a person who spoke some English to help answer questions. Hotel was close to the main square and Taino Bay cruise port. There are several bars and restaurants around the square.

the only thing i liked was the treatment Joel one of the waiters from Mylos restaurant on Tuesday night. Him and another lady who’s name I can’t remember treated us amazingly. They were the only good thing about this hotel.
