Everything was amazing . Right in the heart of Cuenca this hotel is the best choice ! Located in a beautiful colonial style old mansion I had a room in the backyard which was very quiet and comfortable. Breakfast had a great choice . The staff was outstanding , trying to fulfill every wish and make your stay as pleasant as possible. Would stay there any time again !

What a perfect place to stay in Cuenca, the best place we stayed in our 5 weeks in Ecuador. Wilmer is an utter delight, nothing is too much trouble for him; breakfast was delicious; all the staff incredibly welcoming and friendly; room was beautiful, bed very comfortable; lots of lovely, tranquil spaces to hang out. Also an excellent location to explore the city. Couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Thank you Wilmer and your team.

FAQs about hotels in Cuenca

What guests said about Cuenca:

Scored out of 10, guest rating 10

Cuenca is a beautiful place.

Cuenca is a beautiful place. The city has many churches and the main cathedral is located in the middle of the city. Many landmarks are within walking distance of each other such as the Old Cathedral (El Sagrario), currently a museum, New Cathedral (Inmaculada Concepcion), Park Abdon Calderon, Monastery of El Carmen Asuncion, and others. Cuenca is also known for its textiles, hats and shoes. You will not go hungry in Cuenca. The city has many restaurants, 'huecas' and a lot of places to eat. The variety of food is also great including popular traditional dishes; e.g., cuy (guinea pig) and hornado to Italian, American, French and others. Getting around in Cuenca was fairly easy with the tranvia (tram/light rail) which runs thru the city's heart, starting at Cuenca Industrial Park in the north, crossing the Historic Center of Cuenca, and ending south at the entrance of Banos (thermal hot springs)-my children loved the pool with volcanic hot water! There is also a bus system and local taxis that will take you anywhere (you can also use Uber or AzuTaxi apps). Children also have lots of open areas with playgrounds (Parque de La Madre was my kids' favorite). The bioparque Amaru was also visited although you might want to take note of the distance and time to go up and down the park (mountain). Outside Cuenca, you can visit Gualaceo, El Cajas (a national park) and other towns. All in all, a good experience. It is important to mention that we felt safe during our stay in Cuenca.

Cuenca requires 4-5 days to visit and see all the interesting sites, both within and just outside of the city. I highly recommend a day trip to the National Park for hiking/walking( with RT transportation annd one hike 4-5 hours) and another day trip to visit the Incan ruins nearby( organized Viator trip required 12 hrs but we saw and experienced multiple sites outside city) You can see most of the intra-city Cuenca sites in 2 days.

Cuenca has made my list of top ten favorite cities.

Cuenca has made my list of top ten favorite cities. It is stunningly beautiful, clean, and safe. It’s perfect when you just want to relax and there are also tons of activities if you want adventure. I could wander down by the river all day. Prices varied quite a bit, but if you did a little searching, you could find amazing food for really low prices. .50 chocolate croissants and three course $3 lunches. Cuenca should be on the map as a foodie haven.

Currently, it is the safest city for tourists when compare to other cities in Ecuador. There is a lot to see in the province, and it is a good starting point from where you can get day trips to other cities.

Great architecture, interesting downtown in old Cuenca. Lots of churches, restaurants and bars. Climate a bit colder than I expected, and quite rainy in the afternoon. Airport very close to town and taxi there extremely inexpensive.
