Ayamonte is a proper working Spanish town, with all facilities open even in the Winter Season. Excellent access for two local golf courses, and one ten minutes away in Portugal ( Ayamonte is much cheaper than Portugal for Golf, Petrol and much else); and access to beaches in Pain and Portugal. Easy access to Portugal by Ferry or River Bridge. Only downside is the increased volume of cars over the last 15 years, making parking in the town. Very difficult.

Ayamonte embraces a good mixture of Spanish and foreign...

Ayamonte embraces a good mixture of Spanish and foreign influences. There are very good restaurants. The beach at Isla Candela is excellent, with plenty of beach bars. The biggest problem with Ayamonte is the lack of available parking.

Ayamonte is a border town full of life. Beaches are nearby. There is a thriving fishing port and a foot passenger ferry to go to Portugal's Vila Real de San Antonio. The central plaza has a lovely vibe, with children, parents and grandparents all round.

Lovely traditional town with some lovely restaurants and...

Lovely traditional town with some lovely restaurants and bars. It was a little lively some evenings as we were there Christmas week but the noise died down after midnight,. We took the ferry as a foot passenger with our dog across to Portugal twice for lunch (15 minute crossing). It was lovely and we will definitely return.

Ayamonte is an absolutely charming little Spanish town and most certainly worth a few days visit or a day trip from Portugal. It's extremely clean, charming, lots of restaurant options. Please keep in mind that the downtown area is under construction until the end of December 2024, so it makes walking around a bit difficult and noisy at the moment.

My wife and I lived near Ayamonte for 17 memorable years. It is a typical Andalucian town by the river/sea. It is not sophisticated but a working town/fishing port. If you want a true taste of Andalucia, this is the perfect place to visit. If you are looking for sophisticated restaurants, English food and beer, this is not for you.

The hotel has been renovated very thoughtfully and cleverly. Each apartment is relatively large and spacious making for very comfortable accommodation. The staff are excellent and very helpful. The rooftop bar is wonderful with great views over the town and out to the river, and serving a wonderful breakfast with freshly cooked eggs and bacon if you wish. And finally, the location is perfect with only a very short walk into the centre of the town. It is also easy to walk to if you come over in the little ferry from Portugal.

the hotel was simply amazing. very comfortable and beautiful. there was everything that was needed. the city center is 5 minutes away and the river is right behind the building. And Manuela is just a miracle, she helped us with everything, she even turned on the air conditioner before we left. wonderful hospitality. She told us the location of everything, good restaurants and beaches. In short, the service is wonderful, the owners are wonderful. thank you very much.

This is a fabulous property in the heart of Ayamonte. The apartment has a recent refurbishment (old building), its modern, well appointed and well thought out. Comfortable bedroom at the back, good size kitchen/diner/sitting room with a pull out sofa bed if required. There is an aircon unit for those sultry nights. Marta is a lovely and generous host, she has thought everything needed for a short or medium stay.
