Good to visit for an overnight stay.
Good to visit for an overnight stay. Easily see the attractive old buildings and shopping district in one day. Seems to be poor for restaurants /tapas bars but maybe those closed when I visited opened at other times.

Still a bit of a hidden gem.
Still a bit of a hidden gem. The historic city is beautiful and old. The view over the river and land is amazing. It's a provincial Castillian town, very authentically Spanish. Very easy to get around on foot. The food is excellent and affordable. Calle de los Herreros is where you find great bars with tasty dishes.

Well worth a visit for a few days.
Well worth a visit for a few days. We only stayed one night which wasn't really long enough. Two or three nights would have been better.
There are lots of historic buildings in Zamora, the Cathedral and castle on top of the hill probably being the most notable buildings with great views.
Lot of local restaurants and bars. Fantastic local wines.

For me, Zamora was the first Spanish city I had visited...
For me, Zamora was the first Spanish city I had visited that was not overrun by foreign tourists. In fact in the two daysI was there I only heard about a half a dozen people speaking anything but Spanish. It has a treasure trove of Romanesque architecture and also of early twentieth century architecture, lovingly preserved and maintained, not for the purpose of harvesting visitors' euros, but because the community deems it worthwhile. One of my best memories of my visit was being able to wander through the narrow, twisting streets of the old city from open square to square in the company of only a handful of local people. It was indeed the first time in five visits to Spain that I felt I was visiting an unadulterated Spanish city.
We stayed in a junior suite overlooking the lovely square in the old part of the Parador. Wonderful and spacious corner suite with beautiful rooms with period furniture. Comfortable beds. Lovely marble bathroom. Sitting room with comfortable sofa and armchairs. Very good tea and coffee facilities. Very friendly reception especially the elderly gentlemen who took time to give us very useful information about wonderful Zamora. The palace, which locates the hotel is very impressive with beautiful courtyard.
On-site parking had good sized parking spaces which was a big plus. Hotel is situated just outside the old town walls and about a 10-15 minute walk to Plaza Mayor.
Breakfast was good although the rooms are looking a little tired. However the ambiance was nice, and the staff helpful.
Fantastic, knowledgeable staff, beautiful old building, very central for the historic Zamora, rooms were nice with comfortable beds and good a/c. Good for a 3 stars hotel. Reasonable priced
