This hotel is situated by the Gulf of Bothnia, less than a 20-minute walk from the Kemi SnowCastle. It offers 3 saunas, an indoor swimming pool, as well as an on-site restaurant and bar. Breakfast buffet is excellent. There are good vegetarian options and the buffet opens already at 6am. The bed is very comfortable and the pillow and mattress are nice. The room was very quiet and WIFI worked well.

Hotel Yöpuu is in southern Kemi, next to European Route E8 and a 5-minute drive from the city centre. It offers international cuisine, free sauna access and free parking. Decided to stay there because of the photos and was not disappointed, this place is beautiful, especially with piles of snow surrounding it. The view from the room window was like a real winter wonderland. The whole hotel has a very nice atmosphere. I also loved the sauna experience! It is located in the little lighthouse on the top of the hotel. You can book it for your room at the reception, so it's all just for you. Afterwards you can go out to the terrace to enjoy the view and the winter air. Breakfast was tasty and the choices were ok, I think everyone can find something for themselves. You also have access to the shared kitchen with coffee&tea. What really cemented my opinion of this place though was the way staff and owners were doing their best to make us feel welcome and comfortable. It was truly what elevated the whole experience. They told us about the history of the place and went out of their way to help us. I would definitely come back there, maybe in summer for comparison! :)

We wanted to go tour with Icebreaker but it was out of commission. Also no snow castle this year. That's what we expected from this winter trip, but unfortunately we were out from luck this time. We did not find anything else special there to do at this short notice. Maybe there's something in the summer time.
Great place for a short stay, in reality even looks better than in a hotel photos. Flexible check in and check out. We had a one night with our furry friend. I would definitely recommend this clean, tidy and welcoming hotel.
We stayed just 1 night in Kemi whilst travelling through, but the quick impression was cute. It's a rather small town with wide open streets and rather low houses. The seaside offers a beautiful promenade with some cafés and places to eat out. Next to the promenade are traditional red wood houses, very cute scenery. There's a church with extraordinary pink walls. Around Kemi's center is an industrial area. At night, it didn't really get dark but stayed dawny. Surely nice to visit, still, we can't say much more to the town.
We have stayed in kemi many times-this time we decided to stay in an apartment which had excellent cooking facilities-we ate at friends as well. For people without a car Kemi has very good bus@train connections with Sweden(bus),Oulu/Tampere/Helsinki-train.Being a small town everything you need is within 10 minutes(elderly)walking distance. We did notice the town hall does not clear the footpaths by the sea at weekends-they obviously think tourists only sightsee during the week. For the most stunning view of the frozen winter sea visit Kemi swimming pool-swim.sauna relax please note rules apply for sauna area.
Compact and historic city. On top of the high city hall you can view the whole city. Part of the city hall existed during second world war and the Germans tried to demolish it - unsuccessfully. There's also the neo-gothic cathedral and nice harbor area. Roads in the city may be confusing at times, with unclear lanes, one-way streets and uncontrolled intersections.
Kemi is a lovely City with easy access to many local activities. Ideal for snow based experiences in winter. During our 3 night break at the Scandic Kemi hotel, we experienced the brilliant Icebreaker Sampo and floated in the sea in special "dry suits"- It was fantastic. We also went walking with gorgeous, friendly Samoyed Snow dogs at night which was beautiful and finished our trip off with a Luxury Olokolo heated glass sleigh pulled by a Snowmobile. We went across the frozen sea and the seascape was stunning!! The City appeared clean and we felt safe walking around day and night. It was well lit and crews were constantly clearing snow The Scandic kemi was brilliantly located to access activities, shops and places to eat.
very easy location right off the train line . having never been to Helsinki before my family and I had no problem navigating from the airport to the hotel via train. check in easy, restaurant at hotel was great, in fact we had the best salmon soup we had during our entire 10 day stay in Finland ( which is saying a lot since it appears to be a Finnish staple). history of hotel was fun to learn about .
The Scandic Kemi was a great hotel in an excellent location for our planned activities. It was beautifully clean with incredibly helpful, pleasant staff. Although quite a large hotel the atmosphere was really calm. breakfast was really great with every option catered for. The Reception staff were exceptional. We would certainly stay again.
Kemi
They have sauna and comfortable lounge in the basement with big tv. Dining area is great. They have vending machine for small purchases. Every door works with pin code so you don't have to remember to take any keys with you. The location is near everything (sights, harbour, stores, centre). Small walk to the snowcastle.
The property is of good size, the entry to the apartment is informed well enough in advance (pick the key from another spot lockbox), so all worked fine. Location is centrally located in Kemi. There is a bus stop to Kemi-Tornio Airport nearby. Taxi from airport at night is about EUR 20
Kemi
I liked the cleanliness and that there was coffee/tea/cocoa available in the lobby for hotel guests. Would have been excellent to stay with the family and do some cooking by ourselves. Also shops and even a pharmacy close by.
All equipment is new. Hotel was well maintained, hotel owner friendly. Was possible to wash cloths in hotel. Recommend for those who travel.
