Close to the city center, station, and Information center,ñ. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff made my stay very comfortable. (The staff’s information and recommendation were very reliable and good for me!) There is elevator!!! Room is very clean and quiet, welcoming atmosphere. Environmentally conscious. The room was very comfortable with a great view but .... the dinner with matched wines we had at the hotel restaurant was one of the most enjoyable I've had anywhere in France. It was an unexpected delight in a beautiful art deco room. The included secure parking was also very welcome :) Uniformly friendly staff in all parts of the hotel.

FAQs about hotels in Angers

A Loire Valley City With a Difference

Sophisticated Angers sits by 3 rivers draining into the Loire, and the imposing walls and turrets of its 13th-century fortress are a complete contrast to the other Loire Valley castles. The former Plantaganet seat, the castle is surrounded by landscaped gardens and a smaller castle inside contains the medieval Apocalypse Tapestry.

More modern tapestries are in St John’s Hospital, one of the oldest in Europe, by St Aubin’s Tower which was once part of an abbey. Ronceray Abbey sits amid half-timbered buildings on a street which continues over Verdun Bridge to St Maurice Cathedral, whose twin spires tower over Angers. Pavement cafes on the square behind overlook Adam’s House.

The main square - Place du Ralliement – houses the Grand Theatre and restaurants and bars serving Anjou wine and locally distilled Cointreau. Shopping streets surround it and nearby are the Fine Art Museum and Logis Pincé classical museum.

The court building overlooks the elegant Jardin du Mail, while the Jardin des Plantes are the oldest botanical gardens in Angers. The Terra Botanica amusement park is on St Aubin Island, one of several within the rivers. St Nicholas Lake has been artificially created, as has Maine Lake where there is a watersports centre.

The Angers accommodation on Booking.com includes luxury city centre hotels and cheap apartments near the train station.

Amazing and beautiful city !

Amazing and beautiful city ! The castle, the city and his old town, the places to eat and bars. This is a very young city (many universities here) so a lot of young in the streets partying. I would definitely recommand visiting Angers !

The centre of town is brilliant.

The centre of town is brilliant. Very good idea for self-walking tours with the blue line through the city. Although I love history , I wasnt too impressed with the tapestry , but the castle is amazing with great gardens and imposing building. The promenade leading to the castle is beautiful and worth a walk in the evenings. Good mixture of branded and independent shops. Try Terra Botanica , great day to spend Sundays when the rest of the town is closed

The city is full of historical locations with the The Château d'Angers the main attraction. Cleverly the city has blue painted lines which guide tourists to points of attraction. The recommended park to visit is Ardin des Plantes d'Angers. Food selection locations are of abundance.

Angers city is easily accessible from Nantes by train.

Angers city is easily accessible from Nantes by train. (35Mins). Take a walk along the far side of the old bridge from the food hall and find the restaurants sited along the river bank, where most of the locals hang out. River boat trips can also be booked from this location. The Chateau museum is well worth a visit and provides a history and views of the city.

Although I stayed at this property for just a few nights, I was actually in Angers for two months, with stays in other apartments as well. I stayed in the center, within walking distance of numerous museums, historical sites, restaurants, shopping venues, grocery stores, public transportation, botanical garden, chateau, etc. Angers is a friendly and welcoming city with an interesting history and many medieval buildings. In general English is not as widely spoken as in Paris or other larger cities, but if one makes an effort it is fine for a person with basic French language skills. A relatively unique attraction for English speakers is the Anglophone library in Angers, which offers numerous opportunities to meet French people eager to practice their English! The public transportation and walkability are excellent; there is no need for a car there. It's also reachable via direct train from the Charles de Gaulle airport, with no need to go into Paris if one wishes to avoid that.

The apartment was about 6 mn walk from the train station, the location was central and walking distance to all places in Angers centre. Apartment is spacious , has everything you would need to make your stay comfortable and was easy to access. Owner was very responsive and very accomodating. It is near the road so you do hear the noisiness from the road but it didnt prevent me from sleeping. Ear plugs are provided but I didnt use them. Bed is extremely comfortable as well. All and all, it was a very positive experience for me

We had a lovely short break in Angers at the Hotel de France. The location was excellent for walking to the main attractions. The facilities in our room were excellent too and we particularly appreciated the fridge and kettle. The bed was very large and comfortable and the air conditioning was effective. We enjoyed the breakfast and had a lovely welcome at the Brasserie next to the hotel where we had a great dinner. The reception kindly booked our table for us.

This is quite a new hotel, so very modern. The location is quite convenient, in easy walking distance of the city centre. (We are in our 70s, but good walkers). The room was very clean and stylish, with a spacious bathroom, and a kitchenette with microwave etc. We were able to park on the street, which is not too expensive, and free on Sundays. There is a good breakfast buffet.
