Compact city that was very walkable and clean and atmospheric. The old town had interesting food places and shops, and it was significantly less crowded than big cities. Good base for exploring the Loire valley, with other places like Amboise and Blois within an easy 1-hour (or shorter) train journey.

Tours was a good base for visiting the chateaux on the Loire. We also visited Les Halles, the Old Town and the art museum. There was another museum that was closed because of the heat and the art museum had restricted hours for the same reason, but we enjoyed it nonetheless. In cooler weather we would have seen more.

We stopped off in Tours to break our journey from Cherbourg to the Dordogne. First time visiting there and thought it was a fantastic. Stunning Architecture in the old town (spectacular cathedral) and great selection of bars, restaurants, cultural experiences and great independent shops.

A very good City to visit, lots of History, lots of eating and drinking options, a young and vibrant feel, not too expensive and a real lively friendly vibe. If I was French, I would be proud to say I was from Tours.

Old town is a must visit to explore the many old buildings, bars and cafes. Understanding parking regulations takes a little time to understand but most hotels appear to have an arrangement whereby guests can park in nearby multi story parking facilties. A picnic on the banks of the river Loire is a lovely lazy way to enjoy the locale.

We arrived later than anticipated so unable to go into the city however we have been before so not too worried. Good for a walk along the Loire.
Old town nice and good shopping.
Not far from Usse chateau (sleeping Beauty inspiration) and Azay Le Rideau our favourite. Onward then to the Dordogne.

I traveled by train and the hotel is just 2 minutes from the train station and the tram line. Yet it's in a quiet neighborhood. The city center is within walking distance as well. The hotel is small but very nice. It is clean and the staff is amicable (it was raining a lot and I did not have an umbrella, so they let me borrow one. It's a small thing but highly appreciated). And the value for the money is probably one of the best in the city.

The decor was delightful with a real sense of French history and the flat was warm and comfortable. The view of the Cathedral was breathtaking and the central location was surprisingly quiet and peaceful. There were some fabulous restaurants nearby. Our favourite was Au Lapin Qui Fume, 90 Rue Colbert. We were lucky to be in Tours while there were concerts in the magnificent Hotel de Ville.

Convenient location in the old town and near the market. Welcoming, helpful hosts and a family-run feel. The breakfast was good. Basic rooms, typical of French city centre hotels, but comfortable enough. We stayed in rooms at at the back and it was very quiet. Good value for money.

The hotel was located right in the city centre, just a 10 min walk from Gare de Tours. The amenities were decent and there was a lovely little garden outside to relax in. The owner was a lovely gentleman who gave us a warm welcome and helped us with train timings etc.
