The highlight of our visit were the two dinners we had at the chateau - on the terrace one night and once in the dining room - catered for by the owners and great vegetarian Italian food .

I would definitely rate this hotel highly in terms of value for money. The rooms are small, but clean and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, and the breakfast is quite good, at €8.50 per adult and €4.50 per child, if I remember correctly. The hotel also has a gym and a sauna, although unfortunately we did not have a chance to use them as we only stayed for one night. Although the hotel is not particularly close to the city centre, there are some really good cafés and restaurants nearby, so it is easy to find somewhere nice to eat. For example, I would highly recommend a recently opened restaurant in the neighbouring building. The portions are generous, the food is very tasty, and the prices are excellent. As for the hotel’s location, we stayed there for one night while travelling back from Normandy, and we also had time to visit some of the Loire Valley châteaux. Overall, the hotel is very well located for exploring the Loire Valley, including its famous châteaux and the surrounding towns and villages. It makes a convenient base for discovering the area by car.

Very clean city with excellent tram and public transport links. You cannot see the river Loire from ground level due to raised banks but this is typical throughout the Loire Valley and it is easy to access the river once you climb the banks. There are plenty of places to eat and drink, from budget through to high end restaurants.

I have stayed in Blois on multiple occasions, normally in centrally located hotels.
The city is easy to explore on foot and if, you chose your route well you can achieve most of the sights with minimal steep gradients.
There are many and varied restaurants in the old town and across the bridge, along the river.
For good views of the city and selecting your next poi I recommend Jardins de l'Évêché.
I only ever stay one night but I expect two nights would better allow for city exploring.

Well located next to the cathedral. Comfortable rooms and great breakfast. The hotel does not have a physical reception but the electronic checkin and keys were perfectly fine. There is no lift so be prepared to carry you luggage upstairs.

Amboise, itself, is a small French town with a castle. The town is a quick and lovely stop in the Loire. What makes it exceptional is as a base of operations to see Château de Chenonceau, Azay-le-Rideau, Villandry and Montresor village and wineries nearby (e.g., Caves Plou & Fils). Good restaurants in town too. A must do if touring Le Loire.

Saint Aignan is a quaint town on the river Cher.
Saint Aignan is a quaint town on the river Cher. There are lots of restaurants , shops in the town and a few bars. You need a car to get around . You can drive to places like Blois ,Tours & Montrichard for days out and visit many of the areas Chateaus. Free parking is available in all of the towns. Just put " free parking" into your google maps before you enter the town centre. Chateau Chenonceau is a must see and in my opinion the best in the area. It is worth paying the extra euros for the Chateau Chenonceau audio tour as it provides a room by room (there are 19 in total) tour ,great narration and additional, interesting information that isn't available in the free map/ brochure . In Saint Aignan ,we ate at Hestia, Venchi, Trois Chemins & La Relais. All good value and good food.

Medieval half-timbered houses, magnificent cathedral, superb palace of Jacques Coeur that's in the same league as certain châteaux de la Loire. good restaurants, really pleasant museums. PLus it will soon be the European Capital of Culture, so book early !

The is a large city. We consentrated on the old part of the town and enjoyed seeing what was available. We don't think it warrants more that a couple of days but iis a good stop over place on-route to somewhere else.

The hosts, Isabela and Jerome, are fantastic-like staying with family or friends. Great location and excellent restaurant recommendations. Breakfast was lovely.
The common area has games and a brilliant honesty fridge well priced and air con. There is a large garden and a "wish tree" for guests which is fun.
Rooms are beautiful-minimalist but with everything you need. Very reasonably priced too. There is parking inside locked gates.
Next year they are probably going to install aircon in the bedrooms--it was very hot as we were there at the time of the heat wave but they couldn't have known that would happen and they did provide fans.
We would go back if visiting the Loire again!

We were in Chinon for a day. Loved the fortress with its panoramic views and history. It has an atmospheric centre ville with bars and restaurants and, quite rare for the Loire valley, a vegetarian restaurant, Mayaline.
