A Loire Valley City With a Difference
Sophisticated Angers sits by 3 rivers draining into the Loire, and the imposing walls and turrets of its 13th-century fortress are a complete contrast to the other Loire Valley castles. The former Plantaganet seat, the castle is surrounded by landscaped gardens and a smaller castle inside contains the medieval Apocalypse Tapestry.

The court building overlooks the elegant Jardin du Mail, while the Jardin des Plantes are the oldest botanical gardens in Angers.
