Hotel Le Saint Gelais is offering accommodations in Angoulême. This 4-star hotel offers free WiFi. The property has a gastronomic restaurant serving local and seasonal food. A beautiful garden location. A nice welcome by Yannick, the only staff working on a Sunday. Our room was very comfortable with a Nespresso coffee maker, huge bed, comfortable mattress, large windows, nicely decorated. Interesting lobby and dining room. Delicious copious breakfast.
Hôtel Le Crab is located 1.2 mi from the center of Angoulême, just 1804 feet from the train station. Free Wi-Fi is provided and guests are invited to relax on the terrace or enjoy a drink in the bar. Basic but very friendly hotel which I will probably book again for the Race De Remparts in Angouleme.
With a view of the Palais de Justice, this 18th-century former convent is a 5-minute walk from the town hall. Saint Pierre Cathedral and the covered market can be found within 492 feet of the hotel. First room a little small requested a move which was done for our second night and the rest of our stay.
Located in the historic center of Angoulême, a 5-minute walk from Angoulême SNCF Train Station, this hotel offers air-conditioned rooms and a terrace. The owner was one of the nicest, most accommodating people we have met. Motorcycles were parked right out in front of the hotel. Comfy bed, great pillows...so very clean. And very quiet.
This hotel is located in the center of Angouleme, 1300 ft from the SNCF train station and 1000 ft from the pedestrian streets of Old Angouleme. Awesome location and lovely staff...very helpful. Value for money

I stayed twice in Angouleme and enjoyed the calm beauty of the town. The mix of new graphic art and old architecture stirred me. I loved the Comic museum. They had a fantastic exhibition on Will Eisner that complimented the excellent permanent collection of comic book and graphic novel work of the other artists. The old town had excellent restaurants and wine and cheese shops. I would be happy to return.
We were in town for the Circuit de Remparts, a vintage automobile race run on public streets in the old town, an event that has taken place somewhat sporadically since 1939. There is also lots of good shopping for the ladies and many very good restaurants. For lovers of old european architecture, you should be aware that much of Angouleme was destroyed during the war and its principally the ancient ramparts that have survived.
Very nice old town on the top of the hill with plenty of bistros as usual for a french town. Nothing spectacular, no outstanding monuments or museums, but worth one day stop if it is along your way. We stopped there for one night between Cognac and going back to Paris. And, of course, very nice pictures on the edge of the perimeter of the old town overlooking everything below. I would try to stay away from Angouleme in the Summer as it was 98 with 70% humidity at the end of August. Not a cloud in sight. We live in So. Florida and were able to tolerate the weather, but it wasn't easy as there are almost no bistros with AC. And even our hotel previously rated 9.5 here didn't have one. So, when booking a hotel make sure it does have AC.
We stayed there to attend a wedding but were pleasantly surprised at how interesting a town it is. Being small it is also very easy to walk around. It has a good range of restaurants all centrally located.
There's more to Angoulême than meets the eye. The old centre is very attractive, with a multitude of small cafes and restaurants, many offering good regional fare at decent prices. Nice buzz in the squares from the (presumably student-dominated) young population. Would visit again as a stop off when driving back from South to North.

Rooms are very basic but beds and pillows very comfortable. Nice bathroom with shower. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Free tea, coffee and cakes available all day was a big plus. Close to town centre on a busy road. Parking available for standard size cars. Price was slightly high compared to other hotels we have stayed in but may be due to location? Free Wi-Fi. English speaking reception.

Inside, the hotel is not typically French but modernised and in danger of being soulless. However the staff were polite, helpful and friendly, and forgiving of my atrocious French. It was clean and tidy, and wonderfully warm on a miserable January evening.

Nice hotel with a very thoughtful owner Manager. He let me park my motorbike in his secure rear area. Very helpful guy. Great breakfast. Free bottled water in the room, a big plus for this small type of hotel. Thank you.

The lady at reception was amazing! The physical location was great, could leave the car parked at the hotel and take a stroll in to the centre or a stroll along the river - super 👌
