We were visiting Bitche on a WW2-focused trip and had a wonderful experience with Michel and Anne Klein who showed us battlefields and landmarks of the U.S. 100th Infantry Division that fought here for three months in 1944/45. Excellent tour that was the highlight of our entire 10-day vacation to France and Germany.

We stayed just one night as part of a road trip and would definitely stay here again. The rooms weren't enormous but were perfectly adequate and were spotlessly clean. The restaurant food was great - four of us each had different dishes and all were very good - and sensibly priced. Breakfast was a simple affair (breads, pastries, meats and cheeses) but perfectly adequate. There's plenty of free parking and an inviting-looking terrace area to the front of the hotel that we would have enjoyed relaxing on if not for the weather.

Hotel situated on the edge of Bitche town with an impressive view over the citadel (hence the name, presumably). Simple but comfortable room, with everything you could reasonably expect at this price. Enjoyable restaurant; outside dining possible when weather permits, which was the case for us. Good simple food well executed. Try the rösti with various toppings. The summer fruit sorbet was great too. Good breakfast, mainly cold food but you could boil your own egg.
