We had a great pleasure of staying at this unique one of a kind accomodation located over a mill and beautiful Marne river . It is like a dreamy fairly land only exist in another world for someone like us who live in a over populated country. Surroundings are so quiet and very well kept. We had enjoyed the stargazing at night over a bottle of wine which can be purchased on the spot. Owner had lit the log fire in the garden to add the little warmth and special ambience. It was such a sight which we will never forget. We thought this was our highlight of our stay. Yet the next mornig was even better. The day started with plentiful, generous portion of delicious breakfast over looking the Marne river. Unfortunately we coudn't sample all of them. However whatever we had tasted were all so yummy. After a dreamy breakfast time, we had a pleasurable 2 hours canoe trip (which is provided by the owner for a complementary use for their guests ) over Marne river passing by a herd of cattle - many cows and also witnessed wild Beaver swimming and hiding in the water. What a pleasurable sight not expected to see at all. We felt 1 night was definately not enough to appreciate the real beauty of the place. We will definately return with great pleasure to explore the place and area further. Highly recommended.

the French couple/owners were so welcoming and hospitable. The home is out a bit in the country (which we always strive for) and doesn’t have a sign so you would never see it driving around as we usually do. it’s actually a private home with 3 rooms upstairs and a shared bathroom -good to know/expect. Jack, the husband is fluent in English and took the time to share his outside yard while his lovely wife tried to find reservations for us for dinner. such a sweet couple. and a nice way to spend time in a real French countryside home and not some chain hotel. this is a place/fun time our husbands are still talking about. (we are late-mid 70’s and travel like Gypsies so there’s that) Jack also suggested a “typical French town” to visit and we are so happy for that advice.

The owners, Jack and Sylvie were friendly and very helpful. The accommodations were spacious, comfortable, clean and well furnished, it also has a full kitchen. It’s located in the charming village of Roocourt about 20 minutes away from the city of Chaumont. We stayed here because I have family that live nearby, the airlines had lost my suitcase when we arrived in Lyon and I had forwarded the address of the Gite to them, however we left 2 days before it was delivered. Jack called to let us know it was delivered and he would hold it until we could return to pick it up. I should also note that Jack speaks excellent English as he spent many years in England. We really enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to return.
