We booked this property for our one night stay as we were traveling between few cities and this one was exactly in between. The host texted us right after we booked and gave all detailed instructions regarding the property and how to get there which was very nice. Our apartment was super nice, very bright and clean. There was a bedroom, a living room with kitchenette that had all things we needed (some cutleries and plates, glasses, etc) and a bathroom with shower and all amenities. There was also free parking spot which was super convenient as we were traveling by car. Would definitely highly recommend this property and wish we could spend more time there.

A pleasant and easy-to-navigate museum. A church with a remarkable painted vault. An intimate atmosphere very well suited to Marcel Proust. Close to Chartres, it can provide a "literary" complement to a pilgrimage.

The village was a bit deserted.

The village was a bit deserted. As Parisians, it was a little disorienting... We had a meal at La Madeleine d'Illiers: perfect! A varied menu where everything was delicious! And the young waiter was also perfect, efficient and charming! We had lunch and dinner there, the service and the food were so impeccable.

I was already familiar with Illiers, but arriving, walking...

I was already familiar with Illiers, but arriving, walking around, and leaving on foot allowed me to discover the town more intimately, particularly through conversations with shopkeepers and other residents. St. James' Church was still closed at 8:45 a.m., disappointing on August 15th.

Pleasant accommodation. Well-furnished and clean. It has everything you need. Well located and quiet. Laurence recommended two nice restaurants on the square. We had lunch at La Toscagne, which was very good. Laurence was very welcoming, and the key box was also very convenient. Thank you for everything! The accommodation perfectly matches the description.

A lovely little mythical town...

A lovely little mythical town... Especially for fans of Marcel Proust! And if food for thought isn't enough to satisfy your hunger, a visit to the Italian restaurant "La Toscane" is a must for the excellent welcome from the (young) owner and (all) of his absolutely delicious dishes.

The Jardin Pré-Catalan is still worth seeing, but the Proust...

The Jardin Pré-Catalan is still worth seeing, but the Proust Museum was unfortunately not yet open. We visited a restaurant near the train station, which we recommend. In our short visit of just a few hours, we didn't discover any other tourist attractions.

It is the best place for visiting Illiers. The room was spacious, the bed comfortable and the bathroom unusually roomy. We appreciated the light fixtures that are more flexible than in most other places. The parking was perfect.

Lovely little hotel, exceptionally clean and tidy. Big, airy and very comfortable bedroom with view on to the square below. Easy reach of the village and close to an Intermarche so we could get petrol close by.
