United KingdomThe member of staff on duty was amazing so helpful and such a hard worker. She was on the front desk when we arrived and ironing laundry at 11pm . Then she served our breakfast. The place was spotless. Our family room (19) was in 2 floors with 2 bathrooms.
The breakfast was a bargain.

United KingdomClean comfy hotel with a nice breakfast. Large spacious rooms with shutters for letting as much or little light in as you like. Great shower and towels all provided. Friendly accommodating owner and a nice friendly cat. We stayed one night after a night camping in the rain. The hotel felt like luxury. Other advantages were the secure lockup for the bike and the proximity to the station (one of us was taking a train). The hotel was very good value for money. Would definitely recommend it. I'm so sorry we couldn't stay longer to chat with the owner about motorbikes but had to get on the road.

Good selection of breakfast plus offered express / mini breakfast cheaper option. Good lounge area for socialising in. Lots of other scootersists were staying. The owner, Sylvie Decorde and the manager Fabien are welcoming and very, very helpful. Mdm Decorde gives much attention to detail. The well stocked breakfast buffet table is very carefully laid out and looks most attractive.
Excellent, safe bike parking.
Overall, a hidden gem in Nevers.

Nevers is a lovely town with a new area and an area with fortifications and cobbled streets. As is normal with French towns the streets are clean and attractive. I lived there in the port just over from the magnificent bridge for many years so walked into the centre on a regular basis for shopping and restaurants .

There are many, many places of interest to see and explore.
There are many, many places of interest to see and explore. For me, the highlights were the Cathedral and the historic churches such as St. Pierre and St. Etienne. In addition, I was glad that I made time for the Sanctuary of St. Bernadette and the Ducal Palace, which features a basement museum well worth the visit (although one only gets to see a tiny sliver of the Palace itself, and the rooms you do see contain nothing of interest). I spent a lot of time walking around taking pictures and thus ran out of time to do much else, sadly.

Really compact and interesting town and very friendly people...
Really compact and interesting town and very friendly people. The Tourist Information staff were really helpful and stored our luggage when we checked out of our apartment. Unfortunately the cathedral ws closed this week, but otherwise lots to see and do for 1 or 2 days!

`Have you ever been to Nevers?', No, never'.
`Have you ever been to Nevers?', No, never'. Neither had I until last week. I only knew the name from the famous movie Hiroshima Mon Amour, where it has a rather sinister connotation (look it up). Nothing could be farther from the actual atmosphere. A wonderful well-preserved medieval town, very quiet and very friendly, perhaps it attracts more tourists in the summer, we had the impression we were the only ones. Cathedral is splendid, the Romanesque St Etienne church is a well-kept secret which should be on everybody's to-do-list. We did not visit the `brutalist' modern church where the preserved body of Saint Bernadette of Lourdes fame is on display, it surely will have its fans. We were here for only one day and did not eat out, which would have been difficult anyway (restaurants are mostly closed on mondays) so we can't report on the gastronomy. Two hours by train from Paris-Gare de Bercy. Strongly recommended for a short stay.
Tip for the city council: please tear the hideous flat behind culture centre `La maison' that someone has placed between the Loire river and the gardens of the ducal palace down asap, it's like a cheap bolognese suace stain on an exquisite silk dress.

An interesting mix of old and new, well maintained and derelict buildings.
A good selection of Bars and Restaurants, some tucked away down the many small streets( with some even open on a Sunday).
Excellent location if you are visiting Magny Cours race circuit.

Like most french towns, Nevers was shabby looking on the way in. We walked around the old town and there are some magnificent buildings but the centre should be pedestrianised. It wasn't enjoyable with bin trucks, loud motorbikes, scooters and cars constantly racing up and down narrow streets. I wouldn't go back , it was a bit dirty and there is a feeling that no care or pride is there from the inhabitants

We loved the location -- smack dab in the heart of the historic center of Nevers. The hosts were attentive and entering the apartment was easy. The street was very quiet, and the walls between the apartments must have been a half-meter thick. So quiet! And very importantly, the bed was extremely comfortable.

We were 3 cyclists with ebikes cycling the Loire. Hotel had no problem accommodating us with a courtyard for the bikes and direct connection to charging indoors if required. Hotel has great location next to city park and near cathedral. Staff could not have been more helpful.
