Very friendly staff, one of them is English speaking, that can be a plus for some people. Well maintained camping grounds close to the city of Péronne. Rented a Mobil Home for one night, this already is a plus, as there are many camp sites that require you to rent immediately for a whole weekend, at camping Le Brochet a nightly stay is no problem. The mobil home was well equipped, you get your own bathroom, toilet, good kitchen and a big terras outside. You also get a breakfast goodie bag that is included in the price of your stay, nothing special, but everything you need for a decent breakfast.
Peronne is a modest size town very accessible from Paris and makes for a great base for visiting the WW1 sites of the Somme Valley. Lovely setting and despite its destruction during WW1 it remains charming with a great sense of history.
Interesting town on the Somme, perfect for exploring Picardy. It's all relatively flat, so it would be great for cycling trips. There is a bit of a castle left, which houses a reportedly very good museum of the First World War.
Very pretty place and lovely to walk around. We went for the World War 1 museum which is outstanding. Plenty of places to eat....we ended up, quite by chance, in a bistro which was owned and managed by our B&B hosts opposite the museum. Short set menu but what a meal! One of our best in France.
It is a pretty little town with surrounding waterways for walks or cycling. The War History Museum had a unique setting in the old castle and was very modern inside with excellent displays. The location is good for visiting numerous Somme battle sites.
This area is full of history relating to W W 1 and is a good base to see see sites of battle, war cemeteries and museums etc. It is not far fromThiepval which is very moving but also there are many small beautifully kept war cemeteries that give you the full picture and horror of what W W 1 was all about
The WWI museum is excellent and the town has a welcoming feel for tourist. Nice cafes and shops along an old town square and walking area. The church is worth note as is the town hall with it's clock tower.
Péronne
This was my second visit to La Porte De Bretagne. Laetitia and Thierry are the ultimate hosts. The hospitality, attention to detail, and comfort are fantastic. Make sure you try the Restaurant, Le Bistrot d'Antoine, also run by the hosts but be warned - it is very popular and bookings are essential, even in low seasons. Peronne is very accessible from Paris, a modest town with everything you need including a good range of bars and restaurants. The town makes a great base to visit the WW1 sites of the Somme Valley.
Péronne
This is a recently renovated property. Everything works well. The apartment is quite spacious and very clean. It was hot in the afternoon and night but that was more a fault of the exceptional heatwave than the property. Peronne is an attractive town with good eating options and is a good base if you are exploring the Somme battlefield sites. There is plenty of parking nearby.
Péronne
Clean, efficient & good value for money. The showers are great. Hostel type room for 4, but only used by me & my mate. Just surprised it’s not busier. Peronne is a nice place with good access to Western Front locations. Albert is better, but much more expensive.
