The overall ambiance is superb. Good restaurants. Very busy during the day.
Not the cheapest on Ile de Re and certainly not in France. Bridge toll is high.
Weather can be very fickle..............
We love it and the rest of the island.
Parking is very expensive but parking at the beach less than a mile to walk back is free.

Saint Martin de Re is worth visiting and there lovely fish restaurants, shops and possibly to go on cruises.
But I would recommend anyone not to stay at La Maison Douce as I had a terrible experience.
Book hotel in advance as it gets very busy until end of September.

Saint-Martin de Re is a charming village on Ile de Re.
Saint-Martin de Re is a charming village on Ile de Re. Great restaurants, wonderful bike paths, narrow streets that beckon you to explore. It’s status as one of France’s most beautiful villages is well -deserved! Don’t miss LaMartiniere, a family-run ice cream shop on the harbor in St. Martin and also by the Phare des Balleins.

The capital of this delightful island off La Rochelle (...
The capital of this delightful island off La Rochelle (connected by a fine bridge), busy in high season, but with a super market and some very good shops and restaurants of great variety. Charming and quieter back streets, and a great base for cycling around the island.

A vibrant port area on the Island, where the larger ships dock in the harbour. Full of good bars and restaurants. Many people come into town for the evening and promenade around the harbour. There is a great choice of restaurants, from easy-going to high-class. It's a great place to have a very good evening of food, drink and "people watching".

Heaving with French visitors.
Heaving with French visitors. Some good restaurants, some not. Surly waiters if any complaint of any sort, e.g. frites were soggy in most places. Menus almost exclusively in French, fair enough but you do need to translate and the waiters cannot. The harbour is just lovely and evening buskers of excellent quality. Early morning and late eve ing cleaning, bottle collection, bin men, etc. really noisy and need windows closed.

We had a great stay at Le Secret. Jerome was very friendly and helpful. Le Secret is beautifuly restored and styled/ decorated with tastful furniture and objects. Great location near all the restaurants and shops but at the same time a quiet and serene atmosphere in the hotel, a nice little garden with a pool. Make sure to check out the tower at the top of the building for a nice view.
Have stayed before so knew what to expect. A well family run hotel, warm welcome. Room was a standard, smallish but perfect with balcony overlooking harbour. Clean and bright and perfect for watching the world go by. The food was excellent at their restaurant which was always busy. We also recommend Le Bordin Zinc for dinner, excellent, unique experience.
The breakfast was a wonderful way to start the day. Alex is a very warm host and took care to provide items he knew we liked. Fresh fruit, yoghurt, muesli, whole meal bread ... but also several delicious pastries/croissants which we couldn't resist. The breakfast and personal service took this hotel to a level which exceeded our expectations.
Wonderful, spacious and full of character. Elodie the manager was prompt and friendly. Great location near the harbor but it is very quiet - the only thing I heard at night were gulls. The bathroom was as what you’d expect to find in a much more expensive hotel. Nice bath products.
A super kind and gentle reception lady that helped us a lot with the logistics of our bicycle tour. The location is without comparison : step outside of the hotel right into the lively port scene with shops, restaurants and cafés. Great hub for biking tours, car parking nearby.
A wonderful boutique hotel, tucked away on a little street away from the tourists and harbor.
The reception And breakfast staff were very helpful and the breakfast Was lovely, served buffet style in a sweet garden setting.
I hope to return to Île-de-Re and this hotel.
Excellent location, an easy walk to the port, restaurants and shops but away from the hubbub. Lovely hotel, well maintained and welcoming. Very enjoyable stay. Parking is a 4-minute walk away, costing about 17€ per day, but that keeps traffic out of the town.
We stayed for two nights for a wedding in St Martin de Re. Absolutely charming location hotel surpassed expectation stylish , elegant , spotless the host Alex and has wife very helpful breakfast excellent . Would definitely return Alan
Great hotel! Very comfortable room with nice touches like a welcome demi bottle of wine and fruit. Staff was attentive and really nice! Great terrace to watch the sunset and I had dinner afterward. Food was good. I loved this hotel !
A good hotel in the centre of St Martin with private parking, We only stayed for 1 night and every thing was fine. We would make a comment that the check in staff were particularly friendly polite and welcoming
Location was great, free bike storage a few streets away was very secure- lots of codes and keys to get into hotel, room and bike storage. Very clean room with amazing views. Staff were very nice.
Beautiful and cosy hotel close to the port of St Martin de Re. Nice and well furnished rooms. Fantastic location of the breakfast area overlooking the docks of the harbor.
Visually the hotel was as expected - really lovely - big rooms, stylish interiors and felt like a secluded spot within a very busy area. Bathrooms etc super clean
