Trigony House is great, we’ve now stayed there twice & would definitely stay again in future. The staff are really friendly, helpful & professional & went out of their way to make sure we had everything we need. Breakfast is amazing and the evening meal very high quality and good value. It’s a great place to stay and we always wish we had longer.

Lovely cosy cottage well equipped with everything we needed. Beds were really comfy. Cottage was clean and very welcoming. Very good location to explore. Ben, the host, was really accommodating and on hand for any queries we had. Would definitely love to stay again!

We Loved the solitude the setting for this short stay was Beautiful... The Owners were very helpful and pleasant once this room was heated it was so warm Eleanor had the heating an hour before We arrived ... very thoughtful... it was so cosy you turn the heating off... the huge sofa to lunge and relax on... was perfect... full marks ... Eleanor gave us good wee tips and all with a radiant smile... the 4 poster bed was EXCELLENT some may disagree... we loved it... superb views tranquil setting John gave us Directions too reasonable places for a meal out ... Thanx... owls foxes Buzzard red kite a cocadoodler ... Thank You.. as we needed this solitude and thats exactly what We got... Elizabeth and Jeff x

Liked the location of the hotel.

Liked the location of the hotel. Although it was near the road, it was still quiet. No reception area as such. it was expecting Basil Faulty to appear at any time. I fell on the way down to dinner due to a small ramp in the hallway. The staff made me aware of this when I checked in information was easily forgotten no definite markings or notice I imagine this may be a common occurrence. Reported to staff.. the bedroom was clean, although some of the windows stuck with paint. Furniture mismatched and heavily worm some without handles. Again strange layout with a huge bed two couches wardrobe, table, one plus plus room.was huge but felt the furniture was put there to fill the room. Staff were really nice, helpful, professional, nothing was a bother smiling and courteous.NowI’m going to contradict everything I’ve said and recommend this hotel. Although a bit wacky, it was a pleasure to stay here..

We didn't go into Closeburn, which must only be a very small...

We didn't go into Closeburn, which must only be a very small village. The nearest town was Thornhill, which has the facilities that you would expect to find in a small country town. We ate at the hotel - evening meal was very good, as was the breakfast the following morning.

Outside the hotel there was little to do as the weather was...

Outside the hotel there was little to do as the weather was poor and we needed to drive. Dumfries was disappointing and "tired" looking. We only ate in our hotel and drove in the beautiful countryside around with its quiet but badly maintained roads.
