We initially considered staying in Oban but decided on The Old Cottage as we wanted a quieter location. This proved to be a great choice for we loved the tranquil setting, the lovely coastal views and how quaint the cottage was! Our king room was spacious, clean and beautifully decorated with little thoughtful touches like chocolates and lovely crockery. The bathroom was one of the largest we had ever seen at a B&B, with two sinks and a bath tub. The cosy guest lounge had a HUGE selection of books for guests to browse and the dining room boasted lovely views of the garden. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and very filling with a wide selection of items - fresh fruit, toast, porridge (which tasted wonderful with generous lashings of treacle) and a hearty cooked Scottish breakfast. Finally, a big thanks too to our hosts Darren and Karen, who were very kind and knowledgeable, and offered useful tips and suggestions on places to visit. It was also nice of them to introduce us to the other guests at breakfast.

An amazing property - wish we could have stayed for much longer. Beautiful house and gardens which were so peaceful. Great place to relax and recharge. The room was huge and very comfortable with amazing views. The girls in charge were really friendly and lovely to deal with and the breakfast was superb. Will definitely be back one day!

I liked everything about the property. The owner and the staff were wonderful. The position could not have been better. Right on the much and the canal. The hotel was convenient to everything I wanted to see. The restaurant and breakfast were excellent. The bed so comfortable and the room well appointed. I highly recommend this hotel.

The historic setting of Cullipool with its miners' cottages...

The historic setting of Cullipool with its miners' cottages, former quarry and views over to Mull make it an ideal setting for those who want a peaceful holiday away from busy tourist places. The active community association has been successful in completing the Atlantic Islands centre with cafe and information about the environment and local heritage. It has also created a community garden, and has other projects planned to bring new life into the area.

Cullipool is ideal for a quiet, relaxing holiday for those who enjoy walking, being close to nature, and appreciate beautiful scenery. The Atlantic Island Centre is worth a visit and the homemade jam sold in the local shop is very tasty.

Really friendly staff and locals.

Really friendly staff and locals. The owner of the local shop is really lovely also and the neighbouring properties. Absolutely astounding views, I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for something quiet and peaceful, the ferry is regular and open at night in case of emergencies. Just a really lovely place. We got the ferry across to the mainland and visited the local towns. We mainly done self catering but stopped at various lovely cafes and went on boat tours around the islands.

Lovely place ,quiet, need a car or you can hire bicycles to get around, no restaurants on the island, ferry is on later at night in the summer so you can eat in Oban One shop which was closed when we went so bring wine, snacks etc with you.
