Douglas Park Guest House is located in the village of Kirn, just 1 mile from the Dunoon town centre. This Victorian building offers free Wi-Fi access in all areas and has free parking on site. Warm welcome by the host, I had the single room which was facing the rear garden, I am a bad sleeper but had the window open all night as it was really quiet. Cooked breakfast was excellent with lovely coffee. Plenty of parking, 25-30 minute walk into town which was a nice walk along the sea front. Would definately stay here again.
Short trip on ferry and your there. Surrounding countryside is stunning, especially Puck Glen, its a must see. The locals are very friendly and the town has everything you should need. Worth a visit
sadly Dunoon town centre is looking very run down with a number of empty shops. There was a very good exhibition of paintings by Joan Eardley at the Burgh Hall. We had a good meal at the Lorne restaurant.
Apart from the weather after all it is winter, there is a good choice if restaurants and eating places and quite a few decent walks and places on the surrounding area to visit. We had dinner at the 51st State typical American diner excellent and also the Argyll Hotel where the staff were so helpful and friendly the food was also A1
I was born in Dunoon so I go back when I can it’s just a lovely place and friendly the people there always have a warm welcome for holiday makes like myself and most helpful about places you should see and there plenty of places to visit
We were on a cycle touring holiday and the town was a good location for us. There's a few shops in town, one large supermarket, a leisure centre and a number of cafe's. There's a nice promenade for walkers and cyclists along the bays, great for a stroll in both directions.
This part of Scotland is so beautiful, Dunoon and surrounded areas are just perfect for walking and kayaking. Family friendly. Don't be surprised, shop is only in Dunoon, if you are booked somewhere else nearby then you have to travel to this town. However some of the local people selling fresh eggs or honey, you can also find a wee butchers shop. The bus travel on regular basis every hour. In Ardentinny is there one restaurant, we think the prices of served dishes are overpriced and service isn't nice.
Dunoon
Beautiful place, not far from the beach, large caravan. Beautiful scenery, breathtaking views and there was a small waterfall in the front of caravan site entrance - just amazing :) It was very close to the beach and walks patch which was very convenient for children who didn't complain at all about walks. The caravan was tidy and well equipped and had a lot of storage space. The only thing I can recommend is to bring enough food etc as the nearest bigger shop/supermarket is in Dunoon (but it was mentioned on the website)
We found this to be a basic hotel which provided all that was necessary for a short stay: clean, comfortable bed, very good shower and nice breakfast. The location is on the esplanade and it is a flat walk into the centre of Dunoon taking about 10 minutes. The views from the hotel are quite spectacular so it is well worth having a sea view room. I would definitely return when visiting Dunoon in the future.
Dunoon
I loved the location. It was really good, calm, serene, and really peaceful. There isn't much to do, but i wanted a calming peaceful holiday, and this was right on the button. If you want to do more activities or go to restaurants,Dunoon is only about 20 mins away. The Ashcroft, which we stayed in, was beautiful, kept well, neat and tidy and overall a lovely place to stay.
The hotel is located a short walk from the ferry terminal . The bathroom was top class. The quality of the breakfast was good when it finally arrived at the table (Most of the time it was just a young lad taking the orders and bringing them into the breakfast room including the orange juice, cereals , tea , coffee and toast - no buffet style here )
The two room suite we had was quite excellent! Very comfortable and a great location in Dunoon! Very clean and accommodating! We tried to rebook when we immediately step foot in for our next portion of the visit, but it was already booked for somebody else. Next time we are in town, we will be booking here!
Dunoon
The Wee Ludging is perfect for couples, It was spotlessly clean, well equipped, maintained to a high standard, and in an idyllic setting. Very peaceful and relaxing whilst also having Dunoon and Loch Eck on your doorstep. The owners communication and facilitation couldn't have been better.
Clean and comfortable enough, nice room but very tired , needs painted, curtains ripped, carpet very stained, cracked tiles. could be a lovely hotel but needs freshened up. The food in the Italian restaurant was very good.
Dunoon
Great location and facilities, ideal for a break away and plenty of lovely walks around. The caravan had all we needed and hosts were always available to answer any queries we had.
Dunoon
Lovely little hotel by the loch with the nest food and great staff. Out of 10 hotels we stayed in on our holiday, all over the west of Scotland this was the best.
Excellent breakfast, we also had dinner at the hotel. Again well cooked and huge portions. Excellent staff.
