The whole experience was just lovely. I called ahead to check last time for ordering dinner. Turned out I was arriving exactly at that time -8pm so I pre-ordered steak, and it was served outside in the very sweet garden area within 10 minutes of arriving. The welcome by the barman was friendly. He showed me to my room, told me everything I needed to know and served dinner too. Dinner was super tasty, hot and well-presented. The Merlot was perfect and the Pavlova to die for! What I couldn't understand was why there was no one else at the pub below or anyone eating dinner! Because I found the whole village and hotel just lovely. I had the whole little oasis to myself and it was just what I needed after a few weeks of hard work! I felt myself relaxing like butter! I had an amazing night's sleep as it was so quiet. I had to leave early so didn't have breakfast. Parking in front of the hotel was close by. I will definitely try to stay there again

Conveniently located to places we wanted to visit - friendly helpful staff - lovely comfortable rooms , Great breakfast also included in our room rate , and a really lovely meal in the evening close to a roaring log burner ( it was really cold outside so the fire was welcome)

The hosts - Derek and Jenny - were fantastically helpful and welcoming, the room was immaculately clean and well presented, a great bed (with electric blanket😉), great bathroom facilities, a safe and easy to reach by public transport location, lots of nice tiny details in the room (fresh flowers by Jenny 🙏). Swan brewery (2 mins walk) is a great pub. I really enjoyed my stay, thank you very much again, Derek and Jenny! 😊

The location is fabulous and ideal if you want to explore the area. The shepherd's hut is in general well equipped with a hob and microwave. The bed was exceedingly comfortable and as I have a bad back that was really important for me. Dogs are welcomed and the location is ideal provided your dog is well behaved. There were no livestock around at the time that I was there in February but there is access to a road should your dog be one that wanders a long way and doesn't have good recall.

Located in the market town of Faringdon, this former 16th-century coaching inn still has its original courtyard.

Evening meals were very good. Comfortable environment sitting in front of the open fire. The barman Craig was exceptional, very friendly and very good at his job. Keep him on at all costs.
