Hotel in Hartland
Featuring a restaurant, The Anchor Inn is set in Hartland and also provides a bar and a terrace. The hotel has family rooms. everything! really nice staff, from owner to wait staff.. very friendly and helpful. I understand the new owners took over just before Covid and have spent time renovating the property. our room was spacious and nicely decorated. The restaurant was superior to other ‘pub’ inn restaurants. We had a great full English breakfast and ate dinner one night… super menu with mussels, seafood, steak, lots of vegetarian options and awesome sticky toffee pudding. the inn is old but in good shape.. they have lots of books and had a local band playing.

Location lovely, with friendly hosts, will be going back again , family run , couldn’t do enough for us. And I loved the alpacas, donkeys and goats.
Very picturesque and unspoiled area of N Devon. We visited in off peak season when many of the attractions are shut but there was still plenty to do. We visited Hartland Quay - spectacular and bracing in the aftermath of the February storms, Hartland point, Clovelly (very picturesque but expensive), Bude, Bideford & Appledore and Westward Ho! (our least favourite place). Had a superb meal at the Farmer's Arms in Woolfardisworthy and a decent Chinese takeaway from the Wayside in Kilkhampton. Pleaty of things left to see and do to draw us back in the future. No light pollution near where we were staying (Edistone Barn) means the night skies are amazing
Hartland is quite a small village and out of season a lot of places either close early or are not open on certain days for food for example so a little planning is needed. It is a nice location for visiting other places such as Bude, Biddiford and Barnstable. We visited Hartland Quay where Rebecca was filmed recently but the museum was closed for the season and renovations. We really enjoyed Clovelly the Heritage village but not if you have mobility issues as there are a lot of steep climbs. I would recommend a visit into Bude for a nice meal we ate at a sea food Bistro within a hotel called sea fever but there is not a lot to do there between 4 and 6 while you are waiting for the restaurants to open.
We stayed one night as we walked the south west coast path. Beautiful spot with great food, very welcome hot shower and comfy bed. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable, atmosphere in bar and outside seating wS great. Lovely to watch the sun set over the sea and to enjoy the beautiful views around the hotel and coast. We got a taxi back to our start point from here following a recommendation from the hotel.
Lovely place to visit for a few nights beautiful views!! There were a few people going out on walks during the day with their packed lunches made by the hotel it’s a very well organised hotel with friendly staff!!
fantastic walks straight from the hotel. Seemed to be a popular choice for visitors, always room in the car park though, so quite relieved. Book the restaurant before you leave home as it is a very popular destination. Great food, wasn't all chips and burgers. good range of ale and lagers
Hartland is an excellent location for people wanting to explore the coast path walks. We needed our car to get to places and enjoyed trips to Welcombe Mouth , Hartland Quay to watch the sunset and the wild rugged coast path towards Clovelly. For surfing and swimming its only 14 miles to Bude and sandy beaches.
Hartland
It was a family get together the hosts were very helpful due to the current circumstances and the accommodation was very comfortable and well equipped. The location is isolated and quite but close to village, beaches, country walks and larger towns eg. Barnstaple and Bideford. It was a nice touch to have the fridge stocked with a bottle of wine and some beers along with some nibbles. The property is dog friendly and our golden retriever and sprocker spaniel loved it.
Hartland
Pretty much everything! Welcoming hosts, beautiful furnishings throughout, cleanliness, fabulous view. Unexpected welcome pack of milk, eggs, cream tea and homemade bread! Lovely fluffy towels and even robes and toiletries! Comfortable bed and peaceful location. Good base to tour the area and good pub food a short drive away in Hartland village. Would definitely stay again. Although the cottage is pet friendly we wouldn’t have known any pets had been there.

Val and John were the loveliest of hosts, welcoming and attentive. Room had all we needed for our short stay at the end of our trip and the dog had the best time (he already misses John). Breakfast was delicious, room was spotless and was nice to chat to hosts about their lives and the local village.

The most comfortable and most peaceful night's sleep I've had in a long time! The owners have clearly gone the extra mile to ensure that their guests are not disappointed. It certainly exceeded our expectations.
