FAQs about hotels in Killin

What guests said about Killin:

Scored out of 10, guest rating 10

Killin is a good base.

Killin is a good base. The walk between Brodie cottage and the Falls takes you the length of the village. There is a Coop for all your basic shopping and a number of cafes with home-cooked treats to eat in or take away. The Falls of Dochart are very picturesque and there are crafts and heritage displays in the old mill. Local shops also have crafted items alongside souvenirs and local honey/ jam and other wax goods can be bought by the road side. There is a simple National Trust for Scotland information point and the historic Church is sometimes open. There are community shops (smallest Department Store and Thrift Store) and the community feels friendly and relaxed. The smokehouse offers fish and cheese and local specialities to sample or take away. There is a van which sells fish and chips and pizza some evenings.

The evening meal was fine and we enjoyed sitting outside.

The evening meal was fine and we enjoyed sitting outside. The main issue was breakfast - when we arrived it was busy and they said we could ‘do the breakfast card’ later. We never heard anymore about it. On going downstairs in the morning (navigating our way round someone hoovering) we were met with confusion as there was no breakfast ordered for us. We were told it would take half an hour. It was not possible to wait as I was working at the show. I had to have toast and coffee, despite having paid for a full breakfast. This was disappointing and of course I had to buy food elsewhere to keep me going at the show. Surely the breakfast card could be placed in bedrooms to avoid the extra admin at check in? Also serving breakfast from 8.30 am is quite late, especially given the area where many hikers and cyclists might want an early start. There was no soap in the bathroom, only body wash in the shower, had to move it from basin to shower as needed.

Cleanliness was good and the restaurant and bar staff were totally on it. However, my room as a lone traveller was sub standard no window with a sky light 20ft up and no curtains so up with the lark. An apology of a room but a similar price to others . Bit of a cheek really.

The falls are interesting, they run from the start of the village down to the bridge, right by the pub, which has outside seating and good real ales. This part of KIllin gets very busy with tourists. There is also a mill and shops, plus a walk along the disused rail track over an interesting viaduct. Parking is free, better to park further away and walk to the main cascades.

If you're looking for an authentic, old world experience hotel, this is it. Killing Hotel has over a 300-year-old history and is a "classic" UK hotel. The bathroom had been remodeled recently and the room was quite small but very nice. The dining room served great food and it was nice having a pub on the premise. I love the village of Killin and the surrounding mountains are beautiful. You can definitely get away from it all in Killin.

Killin has really gone downhill, we couldn't even get a daily newspaper! The shop that sells newspapers is closed for refurbishment so if you didn't have a paper ordered you had to travel elsewhere to get one! Apart from the co op there's no shops! The town is dead!

A Comfortable small hotel situated in a handsome Victorian villa in the centre of Killin. Cosy well equipped rooms with decent facilities. There is a pleasant Bar downstairs alongside a busy Bistro (fully booked on a saturday night). The Breakfast was good, with a range of options alongside the usual traditional fry up.

Fantastic view and location, everything you need for a weekend away or longer. The facilities on site are fantastic from the boathouse restaurant to hiring a canoe in the afternoon. Wonderful spot for exploring the local area. Killin Golf Club was also a hit with my dad and husband.
