We were greeted by Gordon with a big smile. BnB is right on the beautiful harbour. Newly refurbished to a very high standard with great attention to detail. 5 * BnB the comfiest beds, duvets and pillows. Huge walk in shower with big bath towels and plenty of toiletries. Tea/coffee facilities with big mugs with lots of gorgous snacks. Huge TV in our room. Plenty of storage. Could not fault this place at all. The breakfast the next morning was the best we've ever had.

Millport was our childhood holiday place, and we come back...

Millport was our childhood holiday place, and we come back for nostalgia trips. It is the old British seaside, surprisingly untouched. Don't come if you are looking for glitz. Do come if you enjoy rock-pooling, beach-combing, a promenade with an icecream, discovering local history and enjoying beautiful wee gardens at The Garrison. Do come if you want a 1950s Italian cafe experience at the Ritz Café. Knickerbocker Glories! Stay to enjoy the same terrible old joke items at Mapes, like itching powder and plastic dog doo, as thrilled me 70 years ago. Hire your bike or surry there, for a cycle round the island to set you up. Do come if you fancy surprisingly good coffee and vegan lunch at the Pebble and Dancing Midge cafès. Enjoy a very good steak at Luca's. Do come if you want a killer round of Crazy Golf with your friends, laughing all the way. Come if you want to meet friendly locals with West Coast humour. And lastly, enjoy spectacular views when you hike or bike up to the summit, where the birds and butterflies live in beautiful moorland. You can take in Argyllshire, Ben Lomond and several Inner Hebridean islands in the panorama. Millport has the West Coast soul.

Millport is beautiful!

Millport is beautiful! We stayed just off the beachfront in a cozy little flat. We hired bikes from Mapes and cycled around the island - stopping at the cafe in Fintray half way. Staff at the Pier pub were very welcoming, as were the owners of various businesses along the front. I only wish I could have stayed longer. We took the ferry from Largs to the island, where a bus was waiting to take us to Millport (£4 return - bargain). Very easy.

Lovely little island town. Some nice places to eat. Very friendly locals. Some very unusual rock formations to see, including the crocodile rock, Indian rock, lion rock etc. Great for cyclists and walkers.

Millport is a very traditional Scottish family holiday...

Millport is a very traditional Scottish family holiday location. Don't expect too many frills. Cafes offer standard food and not a great deal of choice. However the people are warm and friendly and the ales and atmosphere in the local pubs are good. There is a local bus service , bike hire and walking trails. Getting back to the mainland is very easy and takes 10 mins on the ferry that runs every 30 mins. If you love golf the golf course is a joy to play but dont expect a posh clubhouse. The bar is basic at best and the food could be better. At present there is a lot of work going on at the north end of the town to improve flood defences so shut your eyes at that point.
