Spotlessly clean, lots of free parking, safe and good security, modern but comfortable decor, friendly and helpful staff. Cafe excellent, plenty of space. Kitchen had everything I needed to cook, washing up liquid and a couple of dishwasher tablets was really helpful, the tea, coffee, hot chocolate and little bottle of milk was a really nice touch. Absolutely loved the toiletries, will be looking to buy some for myself! Also loved how dog friendly this apart-hotel was although I didn’t have a dog with me myself it was so nice to see so many happy dogs being welcomed. Pool looked great although I didn’t use it and there looked to be some nice facilities for children also. Loved everything about this place and as a solo traveler I felt very comfortable.

FAQs about hotels in Newquay

Surfer Days and Steamy Nights

Newquay has that laidback feel that goes hand in hand with being England’s undisputed surfing capital. The centre of the action is Fistral Beach whose swells and Cribbar Reef produce some of the largest breakers in the British Isles. The long, sandy beach is backed by tall dunes which give way to Newquay Golf Club.

Great Western Beach lies below sheer cliffs one street from the train station, while Towan Beach by the picturesque harbour is the closest to the town centre. Tolcarne Beach is sheltered in its own bay, as is the wide stretch of sand at Porth Beach whose northern coastline is 2 rocky headlands joined by a narrow footbridge over the sea.

Each beach is overlooked by luxury hotels with spas, cheap hostels and self-catering apartments on Booking.com. All are surrounded by Newquay’s restaurants, bars and clubs which offer the best nightlife this side of Bristol.

More leisurely pursuits include Trerice manor house in the countryside near the Lappa Valley Steam Railway. Buccaneer Bay and the Blue Reef Aquarium are popular with families, as are Waterworld and Newquay Zoo within Trenance Gardens.

Another favoured spot for a walk are the salt marshes by the River Gannel which is a prominent sight as you descend into Newquay Cornwall Airport.

The central part of Newquay still has a quaint seaside quality, and the SaltShed served exceptionally good food. The ABBA festival at Lusty Glaze Beach was excellent and the beach itself was a superb venue. The rest of the town let everything down badly.

Everywhere in Newquay is friendly, it feels safe, the atmosphere is tangible and it is all completely dog-friendly. The beaches are spectacular. The town itself is full of great, unique shops and there is a lot to see, to do, to eat, to visit and enjoy. The food, restaurants, and bars are wonderful. Getting around is easy whether you decide to walk, bus it , or enjoy a taxi ride. The taxi company "123" was by far the most reliable and fairly priced. Google Maps will take you anywhere on foot, by car, and on the bus. All-day bus tickets are £3.90. The Tourist Info. Centre will give you a Newquay Discount Card and a detailed map. A really happy, family- and surfer-oriented gem of a place.

Newquay is a lovely place with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and beautiful beaches within walking distance. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to find excellent gluten-free food, with several cafés and restaurants offering great options. Everything was conveniently close by, including Sainsbury’s, the Post Office, the Tourist Information Centre and plenty of independent shops, making it very easy to explore the town on foot. I would definitely recommend Newquay to anyone looking for a relaxing seaside break.

Newquay has some of the best sandy beaches in the world and Fistral is where surfing started in England as well as now being the home of British surfing. The town and the surrounding area is very busy and noisy at the height of the season. An ideal place for total beach holidays or a centre to explore Cornwall but beware the roads are very busy in the summer, and you will need to be able to reverse on some narrow lanes for oncoming traffic. Oh yeah, a lot of the Hedges to Cornish roads are solid stone under a covering of vegetation.

Newquay itself has gone very downhill.

Newquay itself has gone very downhill. I am glad we were a mile or so outside based at another beach (Porth Beach). There are empty shops, dirty and untidy everywhere and just overall very run down - certainly not like it use to be which is a shame.

The hotel is in a fabulous location overlooking Fistral Beach and is a convenient walk from Newquay itself. The staff were without exception, warm and welcoming. The hotel is spacious and comfortable and the food excellent, though we only used the main restaurant for breakfast. The pizzas in the pool complex are excellent. Our room was comfortable and well appointed.

A comfortable room and bathroom in a good hotel on the outskirts of Newquay. On site parking was excellent, which was key with motorbikes, and the staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly. Just a quick overnight, so only used the bar after dinner in the town, but it's a good bar! I'm sure the rest of the hotel is good too.
