United KingdomMaria is a very warm and gentle host. She made us feel at home from the very beginning. She gave us local tips for the many wonderful places to visit around Kerkini. She connected us with a knowledgeable guide for our sunrise birdwatching boating adventures, and allowed us to join the delicious breakfast late after our trips. She helped us wash our clothes when we ran out of clean ones to wear. The views from the place were simply breathtaking and we loved the location.

IT IS A VERY SERENE PLACE, WINTER TIME, THE LAKE HAD THE...
IT IS A VERY SERENE PLACE, WINTER TIME, THE LAKE HAD THE CHARM OF THE GREY COLOURS... GOOD RESTAURANTS AND TAVERNS NEARBY WITH GOOD LOCAL PRODUCTS AND ESPECIALLY BUFFALO MEAT AND DERIVED PRODUCTS. IT IS VERY EASY AND QUICK TO GO AROUND THE LAKE BY CAR, HAVE AN HOUR BOAT SIGHT SEEING (DO NOT MISS IT!)

The lake in this locality is the attraction.
The lake in this locality is the attraction. There the locals raise buffaloes, a part of this lake resembles a delta. I saw turtles walking on the side of the road, storks, cormorants and other beautiful animals. I served the meal at FRAGMA. We ate traditional, very tasty products, the people who served us were nice and the price of the food was reasonable.

It is a quiet, calm place.
It is a quiet, calm place. Cycling along the lake is possible, or horse riding if you prefer! Birdwatching and fishing are very popular. Boat trips are also possible for much of the year. Nearby sites to visit include Fort Rupel.

the areas looks a bit shabby. you need to organise...
the areas looks a bit shabby. you need to organise activities before you arrive becasue the area was semi deserted. maybe it was the off season. also cleanliness is lacking. There are some waterfalls close and some thermal baths. kerkini needs better signagne as where to access the shore area. If you go take fishing equipment, binoculars for bird watching and go horse riding.

Sitting around the swimming pool is a must, plus drinks from the bar.
In the morning, we ate a good buffet breakfast with dishes of our choice. Recommended is the excellent Espresso.
We had a big Caesar's salad for lunch and then pasta with a good sauce.
Fig icecream is excellent.
In Lithotopos there is a pharmacy (we bought batteries there!) and a small store called Gatidis which offers beverages, sweets, snacks, water, juices etc. There is a tavern in the village where people were very kind giving us indications about the roads.
In the evening, mosquitoes may fly around, but the door to the balcony has an extra door with an insects net.

Beautiful place, just perfect to relax with lake views,...
Beautiful place, just perfect to relax with lake views, amazing scenery, nature all over, fresh air and great food. Don't forget to go horseriding, boat trip and eat traditional products from buffalo milk and meat. It was definitely a weekend to remember, we will do it more often for sure.
