Located on the beach of Monemvasia, overlooking the rocks, Hotel Pramataris offers air-conditioned rooms equipped with TV and balcony. Excellent location. A lovely family run property. Very accommodating owners . Would recommend a booking eyes closed. The owner was nice enough to open an extra room closer to the reception for me to use for my video conferencing as the WIFi in my room was not strong enough. She even came around to ask if she could make me some eggs as the scrambled eggs in buffet were finished by the time I came to eat.

Its a small place so two nights is enough but I would not come for less than 2 nights. Just perfect place to relax and absorb the beautiful scenery and historic town. Walked up the castle top in the early morning and basically had place to ourselves. Good restaurants in the town, and lovely bars overlooking the sea. There is a really nice little swimming area on the causeway about half way along, as well as the one in the town itself. Not good place for dogs or tiny kids. Bring shoes you can walk in as lots of steps and cobbles.
A trip back in time, this place is layers of history, and any restoration carried out has been kept in style (all electricity, fibre-optics, water and sewer infrastructure is out of sight). Not for the faint-hearted is climbing the cliff-path to the 'church of Hagioi Apostoloi' (in rain the path is a bit slippy). Monemvasia is ancient - don't expect easy wheelchair access (see above on 'kept in original style') - there are steps and cobblestones, an absence of handrails on open staircases, and plenty of trip hazards for those unsteady on their feet. However you can get a true flavour of the place just from the main street (where all the shops, tavernas and cafes are) - but this street is genuinely aimed at the tourists and only in the side alleys do you see homes and small courtyards, tiny churches, conversions, some dereliction too - there are so many ancient buildings that the burden of restoration and maintenance must be huge.
The fort is an interesting location and with restoration being done offers lots of delightful, laconic locations for a long lunch after scaling to the top and checking out the shops! Coastline in the area stunning.
A beautiful coastal town with a lot to offer . I loved the port area and felt very safe being a solo traveller. The locals were very welcoming and the township provided everything I needed to be a self sufficient guest or a restaurant guest. A visit to the old town is a must. There are several possible day trips from Monemvasia if you have a car but there are buses available too.
Loved the charm of the old town and the views as well as the climb up to the citadel , though you need good shoes and a head for heights. Food in the hotel excellent, first restaurant was excellent, the seond not so - should have tried one of the others though the restaurant we had wanted to go to was closed. Parking on the road into Monemvasia not too difficult but it does get busy with day trippers. Very busy in the evening too with people staying on the mainland coming to sample Monevasia.
Monoemvasua is a great place to visit with a lovely sea-side town and of course the spectacular castle and the old tow. We stayed in the main town and given we had a car I think that was the right choice. Very little parking close to the castle so I recommend parking at the base once you cross the inlet and walking the 10min. After exploring the castle and old town with the family for a few hours we Looked for a restaurant but not much choice if you are looking for traditional Greek fare. We walked down to the town and ate at one of the taverna’s next to the harbour. Fantastic food in a lovely environment.
