Elea Mare totally surprised us with its great location, beautiful amenities and wonderful staff, led by Gregori. From the moment you enter reception, Gregori is attentive, interested and committed to making you feel comfortable. Elea Mare is in an unspoilt , beachside location, a charming path takes you to a divine swimming beach, fully serviced by a beach bar serving drinks and delicious food . The village and pier are a short walk from the hotel and you really feel like a local meandering in this beautiful spot. Thank you Gregori and family, Elea Mare is a magical place that we hope to enjoy for many years.

The host was truly exceptional—warm, welcoming, and always available to assist with anything we needed, which made our stay especially comfortable and stress-free. The property itself is ideally located for summer holidays, offering easy access to the sea and outdoor living. Although we visited in March and weren’t able to enjoy the swimming pool or swim in the sea due to the weather, we could clearly see how perfect the location would be during the warmer months. Everything was impeccably clean and very well maintained. Upon arrival, the hosts had thoughtfully prepared a welcome with bottled water, orange juice for the children, and a basket filled with local treats—small gestures that made a big difference and set a very positive tone from the start. The surrounding area is also a big plus. There are several nearby villages within a short drive, where you can find traditional taverns with great local food, as well as supermarkets for any daily needs. It gives you a nice balance between relaxation and having everything you might need close by. In terms of amenities, the property is very well equipped, featuring a standard-size fridge and a washing machine, which is particularly convenient for families or longer stays. Overall, even though we visited off-season, we had a wonderful experience and would definitely recommend the property—especially for a summer getaway.

Plitra FAQ: Tips for every trip

AI generated

All trips

How many days should I stay?

Plan for three to five days to experience Plitra. This timeframe allows you to swim over the submerged ruins of ancient Asopos, visit Pachia Ammos beach, and eat at the harbour tavernas. It also serves as a base to explore the wider Peloponnese coast.

What's the best area to stay?

Look for hotels near the main harbour if you want easy access to local dining and transport. This waterfront area keeps you within walking distance of Pachia Ammos beach and provides a convenient base to view the submerged ancient ruins of Asopos.

What is Plitra best known for?

Plitra is known for its coastal setting on the Laconian Gulf and the submerged ancient city of Asopos, featuring ruins visible just below the water. The village also offers the sandy stretch of Pachia Ammos and a working harbour lined with local seafood tavernas.

First visit

Where should I stay on my first trip?

Staying near Pachia Ammos beach offers direct access to the coastline and shallow swimming areas. Choosing accommodation around the main seafront promenade puts you within a short walk of local tavernas, cafes and the coastal ruins of the sunken ancient city of Asopos.

What are the best things to do in Plitra?

Start by viewing the submerged Roman ruins of ancient Asopos along the coastline. You can easily see these stone structures in the shallow water. Visit Pachia Ammos beach for swimming, then walk along the marina to find traditional tavernas serving regional Peloponnese dishes.

What’s the easiest way to explore in Plitra?

Walking is the best way for first-time visitors to navigate the centre of Plitra and reach the main beach. If you plan to explore the wider Peloponnese region or visit the nearby coastal ruins, hiring a car provides the most reliable transport option.

Family stays

What’s the best thing to do in Plitra with children?

Spend your days at Pachia Ammos beach, where the shallow water provides safe swimming conditions for children. Older kids can snorkel over the visible sunken ruins of ancient Asopos near the shore. The village promenade is flat, making it practical for pushchairs and evening walks.

Where should I stay with children?

Properties near Pachia Ammos beach offer direct access to shallow, calm waters suited for young swimmers. Staying along the central coastal road provides flat, step-free routes for pushchairs and puts local tavernas within a short walking distance of your hotel or holiday rental.

Romantic trips

What’s the best way to explore in Plitra?

Navigating the compact harbour and local coastline in Plitra is easily done on foot. Hiring a car provides the independence to explore the wider Peloponnese region and reach quieter swimming spots at your own pace. Local taxis are available to book for shorter journeys.

Where should I stay for a romantic getaway?

Couples visiting Plitra often book accommodation near Pachia Ammos beach for direct access to the water and nearby seafood tavernas. Alternatively, choosing a holiday rental near the submerged ruins of ancient Asopos provides a quiet base away from the crowds of larger resort towns.

What’s the most romantic thing to do in Plitra?

Explore the underwater ruins of the ancient city of Asopos by snorkelling along the coastline. Afterward, walk the main coastal paths to find local tavernas serving the daily catch. You can also rent a small boat to access quiet, undeveloped coves in the surrounding area.

Work trips

Where's the most convenient place to stay for work?

Select accommodation near the main village road for easy driving routes across the Laconia region. Properties around the Plitra marina provide reliable Wi-Fi, dedicated workspaces, and on-site parking. Staying centrally ensures a short walk to local dining venues after your meetings conclude.

How should I get around in Plitra?

Hiring a car is the most efficient option for business trips to Plitra. The village has limited public transport, making a vehicle essential for attending meetings across the wider Peloponnese region. Within the immediate centre, walking is a reliable way to navigate between waterfront accommodation and local venues.

What can I do in Plitra between meetings?

Walk along the harbour to view the coastal ruins of ancient Asopos, which require minimal time to explore between appointments. For evening networking, local seaside tavernas serve traditional Greek dishes and regional wines, offering a quiet environment for completing tasks or hosting colleagues.
