A relaxing introduction to our first two days touring the Peloponnese. Close enough so that we easily visited Nafplion and Palamidi, and the hotel rates were much more reasonable than in Nafplion. We had a very nice meal at a restaurant near where we stayed - it was a little chilly, and the staff turned on the heat for us. We had an excellent view of the bay and islands, one of which was charmingly lit at night. There were two markets near us, so we were able to buy food and snacks - quite well stocked for everything we needed.
Kyparissi is a true small village that has breathtaking views of the mountains, but best of all it's located on the east coast side of the of the Peloponnese with a small bay that you can go swimming and watch fishing boats go out to catch fresh fish that are sold to local restaurants in the village
Chrani is definitely the place for a peaceful and relaxing holiday. Chrani is a quiet, small, rural, village with a long stretching sand and shingle beach and views across the Messinian Gulf towards the Mani and Tayegetos Mountains. There are plenty of good quality restaurants tavernas, bars, beach bars and two mini markets. It is well positioned to explore Messene an important ancient site not to missed if you are visiting the south west Peloponnese region as well as the neighbouring countryside, towns and tourist centres such as Koroni, Pylos and Stoupa.
Tolon has a special magic that draws people back again and again. By the sea, waves gently lapping onto the sandy beach, boats bobbing in the bay, islands and mountains in view, colourful tavernas and beach bars, small jettys, quaint fishing harbour. Behind this, a bustling main street with bars, restaurants and shops. Something for everyone. Such a relaxing place but within a short drive of many of the ancient sites in the Peloponnese. We recommend the Romvi for great food, service and views. The Barbaressa, a traditional, family run tavern with rooms - right on the beach - heaven!!! On the main street - Esperando for coffee, pizza, crepes and milk shakes to die for. Athenas for delicious, creamy ice cream. Nefelis for wonderful cocktails - they are strong so take care! Dionysus for a friendly drink and to watch the world go by. Nikolas bar for beer and a good chat. Espresso for people watching on the corner. Have a walk on to Ancient Assini for a bit of culture- well worth the effort. Cosmopolitan Nafplion is only half an hour away. Take the evening cruise there for just 10 Euros. Taxi from Athens to Tolon around 90 Euros return per person. It takes about 2 hours with lots to see on the way, including the Corinth canal. Accommodation is generally very reasonably priced with lots to choose from. We guarantee you will fall in love with Tolon just as the many visitors before you who go back again and again. Enjoy!!!
Great place to base yourself on the West Coast of Peloponnese. Fraction of the cost compared to Navarone area and within less than an hours drive to Kalamata and Finikounda. Within 15 minutes from Gialova and 30 minutes from Pylos. Plenty of great beaches with bars in surrounding area. Good restaurants especially if you like your fish go to Maistrali Fish Tavern and have George and Katey cook some of their delicious seafood specialties.
If you are tourist, Tripoli would not necessarily be on your 'must visit' list. It is however a perfect stopping off point as part of a touring holiday of the Peloponnese. It is also just off the main motorway linking Athens, Korinthos and Kalamata. The town has hotels, restaurants and bars all in a large pedestrian area. With a car you are a short drive from some 'minor' Greek historical sights but perhaps more importantly, you can take in some speculative drives in the mountains to the west of the town. If you are really adventurous, if you continue west you will arrive at the famous historical site of Olympia. A 'must' visit even if history is not really your thing.
Very tiny town woth a narrow beach and dozens of cute restaurants by the sea. It is easy to travel surrounding areas of Peloponnese from here, but in the town itself there is not much to do. Part of the town is uphill, so not recommended for families with babies in strollers
An unexpected delight, possibly passed through on the way to the Peloponnese. Much to see at the archaeological site and its adjacent museum' A mountain to climb to look at ancient fortifications, if the weather cool. An undeveloped beach road...a few tavernas on the water's edge 15 mins away, avoiding modern Corinth. We had a lovely fresh veggie meal at the place next to the Banana Bar right on the beach.
Kalamata is a modern city with a nice vibe. It does not rely on tourism to exist. Good shopping & cafe culture. The old town is small but worth a poke around (interesting cathedral just under the castle ruins). The market is in the old town on Saturday & Wednesday & well worth a visit. Eat lunch in Ta Rolla, a traditional cafe near the market. The long fabulous beach is a short drive or bus ride (or longish walk) from the city centre. Kalamata is not a place to spend a full vacation but just fine for a night or 2 & a great jumping off point for the Mani peninsula or in the other direction the fabulous beaches & pretty small towns of the southern Peloponnese around Pylos.
Nafplio is one the most beautiful towns in Greece. It has a huge assortment of taverns and restaurants and over looks the Peloponnese mountains. The Palamidi is stunning to look up at our walk to too - over looking the turquoise sea! Locals are friendly and the weather is fab!!!

The Peloponnese is a must visit. Easy to drive to from Athens. The Hotel has such a friendly welcome, all home cooked items at breakfast that set you up for the day, eat in the garden and relax. The hotel is placed in the centre of a beautiful bay. We had beach all to ourselves, great sunsets and sunrises. When the sea is calm is it very tranquil and relaxing, good for swimming. An excellent base, nearby village has harbour side restaurants. The fields full of Oranges all in blossom and the scent will be a lasting memory.

A small comfortable hotel centrally located in Loutraki, a spa town 50 miles from Athens close to Corinth. Following a late flight it made an easy overnight stop for our onward journey to the Peloponnese region. The facilities at this hotel were found to be more than adequate and parking nearby presented no problems. The hospitality given was outstanding, breakfast was excellent with a choice of fruits, yoghurt, cereals, toasted ham and cheese sandwiches and omelets that were light, fluffy and cooked to perfection.

We stayed in Lavender for a couple of nights as part of our tour in the Peloponnese. The apartment was very clean and comfortable and well equipped and our host was very welcoming. The weather was very hot but the air con made the apartment comfortable. Parking was easy and there was an excellent supermarket within walking distance and we also found a good bakery nearby. The park with trains was very near and we were able to walk to the beach through the park. Allow 20 to 30 minutes for the walk to the beach.

On arrival, we were unsure about Kalamata, which is a fair sized city and can appear a bit run down in parts. However, our view changed over the four days we stayed here. This is a well positioned hotel for discovering this area of the Peloponnese. Nice room on fourth floor (which is what we requested) overlooking the sea. Very good soundproofing; you need this as the road below is busy. Really excellent breakfast in The Loft restaurant with stunning views over the bay.

We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The staff were particularly courteous and were keen to make sure that our stay was comfortable. They recommended local restaurants and we found Methoni to be a very good base with good beach facilities, an interesting Venetian castle and very friendly locals. We were already familiar with many of the nearby local resorts as we have enjoyed many holidays in the Peloponnese and we would recommend the Achilles Hotel.

The apartments are located in a very nice and quiet village. Rooms are clean and big enough for a family of four. A market is just few meters away, so it's very convenient. The family who has this place is very, very nice. They made us feel welcome and we'd love to come back one day. A night before leaving, hey surprised us with a barbeque and a very good wine from Peloponnese. Big hugs to Katerina and Andreas.

This is a fantastic place! It's only two hours from Athens but you get into a hidden jam! Everything is perfect: the environment (within orange gardens directly on the sea coast), the property (it's a minimum 4* hotel) and the host (a family which has been running this "pansion" for tens of years). I doubt if you can find anything better on Peloponnese :) P.S. The restaurant can not be beat :)

Feel like at home. Nice, clean and comfortable, although the apartment is quite small. Amazing garden with orange and lemon trees. BBQ is also available. We grilled fresh fish bought from Nafplio market (open on Wednesday and Saturday). We thank Michalina for this stay and her tips in discovering the eastern part of Peloponnese.

A very nice hotel who used to be a manor, off the beaten path on Péloponnèse . Small beach - Plaka - a short drive from the hotel, monasteries and breathtaking views. Don't miss the town of Kosma and it's quaint square on your way to or from Leonidio. We enjoyed having breakfast in the garden and a swim in the pool.

We were enjoying every day of our vacation due to welcoming Dimitris (the owner of a hotel), stunning views, tasty and large portions for dinner, trips around the Peloponnese! Tolo is a lovely small village with a fabulous sea! I recommend this hotel, it`s good price for quality.

We had a room with an excellent view over the Corinthian gulf and the mountains of Northern Peloponnese, the hotel is centrally located, next to numerous dining and drinking options. Very helpful and friendly stuff, one of the best value for money in the area.

The apartment we stayed in was on the top floor, with views over Nafplio and the Kastro. We had room service everyday. Christina recommended an excellent taverna in the city. Nafplio is one of the best citys we have visited in the Peloponnese.

Great location between Athens and the Peloponnese. Very warm and comfortable room. Parked right outside the hotel and it's easy to find -even on a dark stormy winter night. 2 elevators a bonus and bright cheerful decor. Would stay again.

I travel more than I would like to sometimes and I can whole-heartedly say that Mr. Giannis is by far the best host I have seen in my life. It's not the absolutely beautiful tree houses, the amazing location, the breathtaking views, the absolutely fresh and beloved home-made breakfast products, the jacuzzi with the view and the very tasty welcome wine... It is his embracing welcoming of his guests, the kind of welcoming that only someone who really loves what he does can offer that really deserves a perfect 10! I would not even think about it for a single second! Best booking experience ever!
