We really loved this hotel. Everything was clean and very modern. The staff was absolutly great, always very friendly and helpful. We even got an upraded room which was absolutly stunning. Parking was easy, the staff parked the car for us in the parking garage. We loved the pool of the hotel, as well. Breakfast and dinner were also great. We can really recommend this hotel!

Everything, the city center was really close, and the bus station also. The staff was so welcoming and loving, they did everything for us to feel pleased and relaxed. After Gouves, i think the price was also great for the place value.

Excellent place, we had Ambassador room for our first honeymoon’s night and it was great. Magnific view of the sea, cozy room and probably the best breakfast I ever had (served in the room). If you want to have a little privacy in the pool you have to choose Ambassador room so you have your private pool separate by a thin wall from next rooms, at least. Other rooms still have private access to the pool from the terrace, but actually it is a unique long pool running all over the terraces, separate by thin transparent glasses, so you see the neighbours when in the pool.

This hotel has everything for a perfect vacation! Great sand beach, delicious and varied food, comfortable and clean rooms, friendly and attentive stuff. We decided to extend our visit for 3 extra nights, because we enjoyed this place, but no rooms of the same category were available, so we booked a room of a lower category than we initially had. However the hotel provided us with a higher category room than previous one and than the one we have booked. We were extremely surprised and thankful. This indicates very client-oriented attitude of this place and high level of thoughtfulness. Thank you for the best holiday, would love to stay here once again!

Centuries of History, Days of Sunshine

The largest Greek island, mountainous Crete has stunning beaches, plenty of history and as much or little nightlife as you want. Party town Malia has many bars, clubs and restaurants on its Strip.

Along the coast is the capital Heraklion, a bustling city home to many Crete hotels on the beach, and a Venetian castle guarding its port. Its archaeological museum includes finds from the island’s Minoan era, while just inland are the Roman remains of Knossos.

Also boasting a Venetian castle is Rethymnon, a popular resort with a good number of Crete hotels with private pools on Booking.com. Loggerhead turtles nest in season on the sandy beaches here and at Chania, an important port with an attractive waterfront set against the backdrop of mountains.

On the other side of the island is Aghios Nikolaos, a small fishing town with a picturesque harbour. Just north is Elounda, a popular family resort, and offshore is Spinaloga island, inspiration behind the book ‘The Island’. Matala in the south has a bohemian vibe and intriguing cliff dwellings, while Paleokastro in the east borders Europe’s largest palm forest at Vai.

We booked Knossos beach resort based on reviews, photos and the amazing packaged it offered. It exceeded all our expectations!! From the moment we arrived, we were offered a complimentary room upgrade along with our beach cabana. The staff couldn't do enough to make sure we were well looked after! We arrived early, early check in was not a problem. We well full inclusive for the entire stay (3 nights) and we didn't spend a penny!! Everything is included; amazing buffets for breakfast, lunch and dinner at a very high quality, new food every day, always so fresh with great attention to detail, all our our snacks and drinks by the beach delivered right to our beach cabana were also included (cocktails, beer, food etc). We had wonderful massages in the spa area, we chose to eat in one of the restaurants (not included) for a special meal, you are given a discount and the food was incredible and very reasonably priced!! On our last day, our flight wasn't until 10pm, the hotel allowed us to stay until 6pm with an extra charge of €30, and we kept our all inclusive bands and cabana all day. Honestly, this place was truly so special, amazing sandy beaches, pure clean water, no noise, so quiet, no loud music, tranquil, clean, friendly and the most amazing greek food!! We will be back, it was one of the most relaxing stays I've ever had. Huge than you to Harris who went above and beyond to look after us!! The lovely waitress, Maria waitress, Dimitris beach bar manager, and wonderful massages from Evalina Spa. To the chef, we particularly enjoyed our buffet lunches! We couldn't have been happier with our choice of a hotel! It's located a few kilometers outside of the center and the old town but this was only a positive thing for us - lying by the pool (a big and clean pool for that matter) it was actually calm and quiet with only some birdsong to be heard. The hotel also provided a free shuttle every half an hour to the center and back so the distance was not an issue whatsoever. The staff was a m a z i n g, I can't compliment them enough. It must've been the warmest welcome I've received at any hotel, in any country, and they kept being so genuinely kind and helpful for our whole stay. The restaurant upstairs offers you the best sunset view in town and we actually ended up having dinner there almost every night since the food was also great there. The breakfast buffet was so great as well, with a big variety of food and omelets made to order. If (and hopefully, when) I return to Chania, I will definitely stay at Royal Sun again.

What a fantastic hotel. Location was close to everything. Room was large, comfortable, clean, and modern. Complimentry bowl of fresh fruit, raki, and bag of peanuts. Also free toiletres. Biggest advantage undoubtably are the efficient, polite, friendly, and always smiling staff. Very good breakfast also, with a large selection of choices, including fried eggs, bacon, sausages, and even mushrooms. This should be a 4 star hotel, not 3 stars. Will definitely stY here again

The hotel is located in an amazing spot, great views, beach, pools, restaurant and rooms. We were upgraded to a suite and it was awesome, everything clean, the staff was always nice and helpful. The hotel has a great location—not far from Balos Beach and the city. The rooms are spacious, with a nicely renovated bathroom and a cosy balcony. It’s situated right by a beautiful, quiet beach, which made the stay even more relaxing. The pool and beach area are both very pleasant. Free parking is available close to the hotel, which was super convenient. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Highly recommended, it was good value for money as well.

The old town area was a delight lots of small alleys either good selection of shops and restaurants and not over priced, good friendly atmosphere and pretty harbours … definitely not suitable for cars … so much nicer.

We found good restaurants in the centre of town, where it was quite lively and fun. We visited several museums and churches and the massive fortifications - I found the latter very impressive. It's a good base for visiting Knossos and also Spinalonga (though we made the mistake of not taking the express on the way out and it took ages!).

It was about a ten minutes walk uphill part way to Koutouloufari, loads of restaurants and bars, a fabulous experience. Walk a little further and you come to Piscopiano, also excellent. Walk down the hill and you come to restaurants with Greek dancing and plate smashing, also excellent.

Wonderful place to stay near old town with many shopping and food options of all types, easy to get around and close to attractions and beach. Lots of ideas available for experiences. Hop on hop off bus very valuable to see the main sites

The port area was very nice

The port area was very nice We highly recommend Maistrali in Agios Nikolaos - we ate there twice! Gorgeous ocean view; the food was authentic and the locals eat there. It was approximately 20 Euros per person - so much food too

The hotel complex is well laid out.

The hotel complex is well laid out. Although set in a hill there are plenty of lifts if you don't like using stairs. The rooms are spacious and cleaned daily. Bathrooms are modern and clean. It's a great place to just relax by the pool by the bar or on your balcony. It's north facing so full sun in the morning. There is a good gym and a beauty spa. The evening entertainment is varied and of a good standard. A lot of the shows are held in an open air ampitheatre ideal for a summers evening. There is a regular bus run by the hotel down to the local beach which is helpful as the road down is steep and narrow. The restaurant is excellent. The choice and quality of food is outstanding and delicious. The staff are helpful and always have a smile on their faces. If you like an all inclusive holiday where you can laze around be active then this is highly recommended.

Great room in building housing reception. Quiet, easy access and uninterrupted view to sea. Medallion we visited by car. Suggest early morning as parking very difficult. A pretty chaotic City and from our perspective disappointing and pretty poorly maintained. Good if you like lots of shops.

Vicky, the hostess, is warm and attentive and does her best to accommodate guests’ requests. The entire team is friendly and helpful. All dishes are freshly prepared and well suited to our tastes. A special mention goes to the young chef, who stopped by each evening to ask for feedback on the dishes.

I love Agia Marina—it has beautiful beaches, great...

I love Agia Marina—it has beautiful beaches, great restaurants, plenty of shops, and stunning views. You can easily walk to Platanias or Stalos. It’s also easy to reach Falasarna Beach and further on to Elafonissi Beach and the Samaria Gorge. Agia Marina also has excellent tourist infrastructure—you’ll easily find car rentals, bus stops with frequent connections to Chania, as well as many beachfront bars and cafés. It’s a great place both for a quiet and relaxing holiday and for a more active stay (water sports, excursions). Another highlight is the island of Agioi Theodoroi visible from the shore, which adds to the charm of the landscape.

Elounda was ideal for us as it is fairly small and so no great hussle and bussle. Lots of places to eat. We visited Spinalonga one day - taking boat from Elounda and the second day we visited Plaka. Would like to have stayed another day to take opportunity to visit Agios Nikolas. Easy bus ride away.
