The experience was amazing from start to end. We arrived late at night around 2:00 and Spyros was there to welcome us with a smile regardless of the hour! The room was fantastic and what counts more for me it has an amazing bed. Everything was super clean with all amenities you need. The staff at breakfast was super and the food was freshly made. We got amazing tips from Eirini as to where to drive to to find the perfect beach bars and food recommendations. I 100% recommend Theta Boutique Hotel.

An exceptional experience - simply perfect! The staff was professional, kind, and very welcoming, and the atmosphere at the hotel was pleasant and relaxing from the very first moment. The view was amazing, the room was spacious, beautiful, clean, and comfortable, and the dining room was excellent, with high-quality and varied food. In addition, the private pool in the room was a perfect size and added so much to the experience. We enjoyed our stay very much and would definitely love to come back again 😊

Me and mom had a great stay in Myrion Beach Resort and Spa. It's a beautiful hotel in modern style. Breakfast and dinner had variety of dishes, and some preferences were added to our next breakfast. It's quite hotel, very good for solo travels, couples, senior people and those who are looking for a quality and pieceful vacation. I liked our room with terrace, room was modern with very good Air-condition and wi-fi. Complimentary in the room was water and tea/ coffee corner (refield daily) . I had a nice Hotel Birthday Treat delivered to our room and a birthday card. Thank you. Reception and guest relationship staff are super friendly, and Mr. Manolis, Hotel Manager, is always around the guests and was taking care of our and other guest comfort. Hotel application was very useful for a fast service, information about evening programs and hotel facilities.

For our family (2 adults and 2 children) we had two rooms. Very comfortable. The staff was great and very helpful every time when I needed some help. Everything was clean. Also, breakfast was nice with a lot of choices. The hotel also provided car rent with affordable prices (We rent a small one for four days - pick up was even at Chania airport).

As soon as you enter, you are greeted by what permeates the hotel, friendliness and quality. The staff are consistently very professional and friendly. Clean and tidy and with a small but very nice pool area. The breakfast room on the fifth floor is probably one of the most beautiful ones with a view worth a visit just for that. The breakfast is also well cooked and the elderly woman who runs it gives clear instructions on, among other things, the cakes she baked herself. It is about 20 min walk down to the beach, a bit hilly but it is an advantage after a good dinner in the evening.

FAQs about hotels on Crete

Centuries of History, Days of Sunshine

The largest Greek island, mountainous Crete has stunning beaches, plenty of history and as much or little nightlife as you want. Party town Malia has many bars, clubs and restaurants on its Strip.

Along the coast is the capital Heraklion, a bustling city home to many Crete hotels on the beach, and a Venetian castle guarding its port. Its archaeological museum includes finds from the island’s Minoan era, while just inland are the Roman remains of Knossos.

Also boasting a Venetian castle is Rethymnon, a popular resort with a good number of Crete hotels with private pools on Booking.com. Loggerhead turtles nest in season on the sandy beaches here and at Chania, an important port with an attractive waterfront set against the backdrop of mountains.

On the other side of the island is Aghios Nikolaos, a small fishing town with a picturesque harbour. Just north is Elounda, a popular family resort, and offshore is Spinaloga island, inspiration behind the book ‘The Island’. Matala in the south has a bohemian vibe and intriguing cliff dwellings, while Paleokastro in the east borders Europe’s largest palm forest at Vai.

We could go on and on about magnificent Crete beaches, but whichever resort you choose, you can be almost guaranteed fantastic food and a good helping of sunshine.

We booked Knossos beach resort based on reviews, photos and the amazing packaged it offered. It exceeded all our expectations!! From the moment we arrived, we were offered a complimentary room upgrade along with our beach cabana. The staff couldn't do enough to make sure we were well looked after! We arrived early, early check in was not a problem. We well full inclusive for the entire stay (3 nights) and we didn't spend a penny!! Everything is included; amazing buffets for breakfast, lunch and dinner at a very high quality, new food every day, always so fresh with great attention to detail, all our our snacks and drinks by the beach delivered right to our beach cabana were also included (cocktails, beer, food etc). We had wonderful massages in the spa area, we chose to eat in one of the restaurants (not included) for a special meal, you are given a discount and the food was incredible and very reasonably priced!! On our last day, our flight wasn't until 10pm, the hotel allowed us to stay until 6pm with an extra charge of €30, and we kept our all inclusive bands and cabana all day. Honestly, this place was truly so special, amazing sandy beaches, pure clean water, no noise, so quiet, no loud music, tranquil, clean, friendly and the most amazing greek food!! We will be back, it was one of the most relaxing stays I've ever had. Huge than you to Harris who went above and beyond to look after us!! The lovely waitress, Maria waitress, Dimitris beach bar manager, and wonderful massages from Evalina Spa. To the chef, we particularly enjoyed our buffet lunches! If you are thinking about booking - don't, just do it, you won't be disappointed! Karen and Ed

We stayed at the hotel over the Easter week, the very beginning of the summer season, and couldn’t be more impressed with how smoothly the hotel was running! The hotel is well-designed and spacious, there are plenty of social areas for family chit chat and cute alleys for taking a walk. We loved seeing all the palm trees and hearing birds chirping throughout the day. The staff at the hotel were super friendly, without an exception, and genuinely interested in helping guests have a great time. There are two swimming pools to choose from: one for kids with slides, another one for adults, and a carefully maintained beach with lazy chairs and a beach bar. The restaurant is great and operates very efficiently, we never had to wait for more than 5 minutes to get seated, even during the peak time. And I don’t need to tell you all how amazing the Cretan cuisine is. In short, this is an absolute gem of a place to stay in!

An authentic ancient city with all the charm of a vintage destination. The blend of Byzantine, Venetian, and Ottoman cultures makes the city unforgettable. The food is extraordinary! During peak season, Chania is packed with tourists, especially the harbor. But there are plenty of opportunities to get away from it all in the surrounding area (Koum Kapi Beach, beach trips along the west coast, village tours, etc.). One point to keep in mind: the old town is entirely pedestrian-only, so you’ll need to be able to walk comfortably.

Small city, easy to walk around, lots of great buildings, very friendly people and easy to find whatever you need. Great food places, Archaeological Museum is a must if visiting Knossos. For shoppers, it's paradise especially at the market and Hondo Centre (skin care galore, bags/cases, swim wear) near St Titus - also recommend the Platanos cafe in the square under the trees next to St Titus. Eleftherias Square is great for sitting in the shade, in fact there's lots of benches around the main shopping areas which is great if you are sitting to eat your bakery treat, takeaway gyros, ice cream, reorganise your bags or check the map. Visitor information is open in the mornings and can give you a paper map plus excellent advice; if you are here in summer months, ask about the festival booklet which is in Greek and English with all the events (movies, concerts, plays, kids' events) around the city. Looking for a supermarket in the city centre? Try Bazaar or Chalkidakis. Heraklion is a city so it offers all the services you would normally find - ask your host or hotel reception/concierge for recommendations for local services.

An absolute highlight of our trip!

An absolute highlight of our trip!Rethymno is easily one of the best locations to stay in Crete. The beaches are fantastic, and the city itself is beautiful and full of life. It has an incredible energy, vibrant movement, and a great selection of restaurants, yet it manages to keep its authentic charm without feeling overly commercialized. The local people are also incredibly warm and welcoming everywhere you go.It is a perfect spot for shopping, but above all, it served as an excellent base for the first half of my vacation. We stayed here to explore this side of the island before heading to Agios Nikolaos for the second half to discover the other side.I highly recommend Rethymno to anyone visiting Crete!

Agios Nikolaos was a very good experience for me and my partner. Plenty of restaurants and bars with friendly, local staff. The place was the right mix of busy without being over crowded. Most restaurants added extras such as small starters and desserts of local produce free of charge which was a nice touch.

Malia is a party town. Liken the main strip to something you might find in Benidorm or Magaluf. It wasn't our scene and I wish I'd done more research before booking but our hotel was an oasis from the rest of the neighbourhood and a good location to hire a car and see other parts of the island.

Kissamos is authentic Greece.

Kissamos is authentic Greece. The coastline and sunsets are idyllic and the people are warm and friendly. A boat trip to Balos lagoon is a must as is a visit to beautiful Chania and Elafonisi beach. Kissamos itself has several family run eateries which serve quality meals. Molos Beach hotel and Maria's are a must-visit at sunset. Gramboussa Restaurant is stunning and highly recommended. It's a no reservation policy so upon arrival expect to join a wait list and be seated in the beautiful garden waiting area where you can have nibbles. The cocktails are outstanding! Kissamos is easy to navigate... taxis are reasonable and, if you're on a budget, public transport is super-accessible and cheap. We have visited three years running and plan to return next year!
