Everything about our stay was absolutely wonderful, down to the smallest detail. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and truly made us feel at home. I would even say that beyond the hotel’s excellent quality, what truly stands out is the outstanding service — it’s clear that this hotel not only offers quality, but most of all sells a top-tier experience. The facilities were excellent, the location was perfect, and the overall organization of the hotel was impressive. The breakfast buffet was rich and delicious, with a wide variety of options. Although parking can be challenging in the city, the hotel provided convenient solutions that made everything hassle-free. Overall, it is a hotel I would wholeheartedly and unreservedly recommend to anyone — everything was simply exceptional

The location is exceptional, 5 min walk from bus station and right in the city centre. You are basically in the middle of the main attractions. - The cleanliness was exceptional, very fast and so effectively planned that we were never bothered by the cleaning service. Never experienced anything like this before. - The staff everywhere is amazing (reception, cleaning, restaurant). They give you the best tips where to go and every time you need something, they are all willing to help you. Amazing team! - The bedrooms are well equipped and very quiet. - Great value for the money!

An excellent impression of the room at this hotel! The room turned out to be wonderful - spacious, clean, and with a beautiful interior that created a pleasant atmosphere. I would especially like to mention the friendly staff, who were always ready to help with any questions. A big thank you to them for their care and hospitality. Despite this, there are some small aspects that could be improved. For instance, the pot with a plant on the balcony was found broken, and the second pot was completely dried out. Considering the overall beauty of the room, such minor issues could certainly be addressed. Overall, the stay left a positive impression. If these minor shortcomings were rectified, the room would truly be perfect. Nevertheless, the experience of staying at this hotel was delightful, largely due to the responsive and friendly staff.

Centuries of History, Days of Sunshine

The largest Greek island, mountainous Crete has stunning beaches, plenty of history and as much or little nightlife as you want. Party town Malia has many bars, clubs and restaurants on its Strip.

Along the coast is the capital Heraklion, a bustling city home to many Crete hotels on the beach, and a Venetian castle guarding its port. Its archaeological museum includes finds from the island’s Minoan era, while just inland are the Roman remains of Knossos.

Also boasting a Venetian castle is Rethymnon, a popular resort with a good number of Crete hotels with private pools on Booking.com. Loggerhead turtles nest in season on the sandy beaches here and at Chania, an important port with an attractive waterfront set against the backdrop of mountains.

On the other side of the island is Aghios Nikolaos, a small fishing town with a picturesque harbour. Just north is Elounda, a popular family resort, and offshore is Spinaloga island, inspiration behind the book ‘The Island’. Matala in the south has a bohemian vibe and intriguing cliff dwellings, while Paleokastro in the east borders Europe’s largest palm forest at Vai.

It is by far the best resort I have ever visited. The employees are providing a fantastic service from the cleaning staff that keeps the resort spotless, to the lifeguards that keep the water park safe for all the customers and the front desk staff delivered great service throughout our stay The Stella resort’s Facilities are exceptional. And It’s location is great (by the beach and about 25 min from the airport). The water park is very fun, there are slides for all age groups and enough to keep the family entertained several days. Last but not least, the food provided is very good. The staff offers new options on a daily basis from grilled fresh fish to traditional Cretan dishes. We always found something great to eat and never felt bored. And we had a wonderful time at their new restaurant the Almyra (à la carte) with a great service and great selection of wines. All in all, our family had a fantastic vacation at the Stella Palace.

First of all, the location is very good-within easy walking distance to the bus station, the port, and the pedestrian areas of the town center. Next, I liked the lobby and lounge areas, which were spacious and pleasant; the room, while a bit antiseptic-looking, turned out to be extremely comfortable and well designed. The excellent mattress, together with the peace and quiet, contributed to a good night's sleep. From my balcony I had a partial view of the sea, which I wasn't expecting. I was pleasantly surprised by the spacious bathroom and by its roomy shower stall, which was equipped with very nice soap and shampoo. The breakfast was delicious, too, with a wide variety of delicious items to choose from, so that you could have a full English breakfast, a Greek breakfast, or a combination of both. Finally, the staff at reception and the cleaning personnel were exceptionally kind and helpful.

Had a lovely stay with my wife and two young kids. The staff were extremely professional and helpful. They accommodated our request for an earlier check in and even gave us a complimentary room upgrade. There were lots of small touches that made our stay very pleasant such as complimentary champagne / wine in our room, welcome drinks, etc. We made use of a number of the hotel’s facilities including the main restaurant, the gym, pool and the kids club and were very happy with everything. We look forward to staying here again the next time we are in Crete.

We spent our honeymoon at Abaton and we are very satisfied💫 The room was spotless and cleaned twice a day. The view of the sea was breathtaking, and the whole resort had a calming white and blue design. The pool area and the Buddha Beach Bar were both fantastic spots to enjoy the sun and have a drink. The hotel restaurants are excellent, although quite expensive. Everything was truly perfect, including the breakfast and the friendly staff. What stood out the most was how welcomed and valued we felt as guests. We're glad we chose Abaton.

The old town area was a delight lots of small alleys either good selection of shops and restaurants and not over priced, good friendly atmosphere and pretty harbours … definitely not suitable for cars … so much nicer.

A welcome respite in May from the high prices and crowds of London, Paris and Rome, but still relatively expensive (for Canadian travellers) and busy at rush hour -and likely more crowded and hot come summer. Great weather - sun and cool Mediterranean breeze. Recommend a week or two to see more of Crete.

It was about a ten minutes walk uphill part way to Koutouloufari, loads of restaurants and bars, a fabulous experience. Walk a little further and you come to Piscopiano, also excellent. Walk down the hill and you come to restaurants with Greek dancing and plate smashing, also excellent.

We loved all the little streets in the old town and the beach was lovely too. There were plenty of great restaurants to choose from but we didn’t really like the pressure from the some of the restaurant staff to eat there

The port area was very nice

The port area was very nice We highly recommend Maistrali in Agios Nikolaos - we ate there twice! Gorgeous ocean view; the food was authentic and the locals eat there. It was approximately 20 Euros per person - so much food too

The hotel complex is well laid out.

The hotel complex is well laid out. Although set in a hill there are plenty of lifts if you don't like using stairs. The rooms are spacious and cleaned daily. Bathrooms are modern and clean. It's a great place to just relax by the pool by the bar or on your balcony. It's north facing so full sun in the morning. There is a good gym and a beauty spa. The evening entertainment is varied and of a good standard. A lot of the shows are held in an open air ampitheatre ideal for a summers evening. There is a regular bus run by the hotel down to the local beach which is helpful as the road down is steep and narrow. The restaurant is excellent. The choice and quality of food is outstanding and delicious. The staff are helpful and always have a smile on their faces. If you like an all inclusive holiday where you can laze around be active then this is highly recommended.

Great room in building housing reception.

Great room in building housing reception. Quiet, easy access and uninterrupted view to sea. Medallion we visited by car. Suggest early morning as parking very difficult. A pretty chaotic City and from our perspective disappointing and pretty poorly maintained. Good if you like lots of shops.

Vicky, the hostess, is warm and attentive and does her best to accommodate guests’ requests. The entire team is friendly and helpful. All dishes are freshly prepared and well suited to our tastes. A special mention goes to the young chef, who stopped by each evening to ask for feedback on the dishes.

I love Agia Marina—it has beautiful beaches, great...

I love Agia Marina—it has beautiful beaches, great restaurants, plenty of shops, and stunning views. You can easily walk to Platanias or Stalos. It’s also easy to reach Falasarna Beach and further on to Elafonissi Beach and the Samaria Gorge. Agia Marina also has excellent tourist infrastructure—you’ll easily find car rentals, bus stops with frequent connections to Chania, as well as many beachfront bars and cafés. It’s a great place both for a quiet and relaxing holiday and for a more active stay (water sports, excursions). Another highlight is the island of Agioi Theodoroi visible from the shore, which adds to the charm of the landscape.

Small and nice city with many good tavernas/shops.Nice and clean beaches there.It is a must to see it category. Lovely local people everywhere (shops and tavernas), good portions of food for correct price.
