Such a scenic beautiful place with so many restaurants and bars offering quality food. At the time of year we visited it wasn’t too busy or noisy but still had a buzz and atmosphere. Cute small town by the coast, when we were there there weren’t a lot of things to do other than explore the surrounding nature of agios nikolaos and we didn’t have a car but in order to properly go around the area outside of town I recommend renting a car!Guest review byClasonNetherlands - 8.0

We came for 5 nights half board and we enjoyed every moment. Agios Nikolaos is 10 minutes drive and it is a beautiful small city. Also must see is a little village Plaka in front to Spinalunga Island (from the book the Island) is 20 minutes drive. Kritsa is also a nice village 20 minutes away. Busy town with plenty going on. Cruises and a little train doing local tours. Plenty of restaurants to choose from and plenty of authentic Greek food. A few hills but nothing too energetic. Agios Nikolaos is a pretty town set in a great location.
Agios Nikolaos is a pretty town set in a great location. It is hilly to walk around in places though the hills can be avoided. The beaches in the town are small and we preferred the bigger beach at Almyros, golden sand , sunbeds at 10 E for two ,though only a small cafe so take own food, We walked there across the back of the town every day in about 30 minutes though hilly on way there and back , definitely worth the walk. We caught the bus to Elounda for the trip to Spinalonga. Our boat gave us about an hour and a half there which was enough though on arrival on the island there is a big queue to pay the additional 8 E entrance fee. There are a lot of tours arriving constantly by boat but there was plenty of room to get away from other people amongst the ruins. The beach at Elounda is lovely , golden sand with lots of nice restaurants. It was pretty windy the whole time we were there.Guest review byCBM62United Kingdom

This apartment is very well equipped, super clean, in a wonderful location in the very centre and with a stunning view on the lake (in the morning, you can see a beautiful sunrise from the big terrace). The owner, Maria, was a wonderful host. She gave us plenty of suggestions and itineraries to discover beautiful beaches around Agios Nikolaos and the east/south of Crete. The management of the hotel is perfect, Maria is a special person and she made us feel at home; she also gave us advice on the tour to do and on the beautiful beaches to see. The aircon, Netflix and accessible restaurant and coffee shops around make this also an ideal place to work remotely.
