Surprisingly in the end October the Rethymno Old town was very lovely to walk around and full of life. Our beloved places to eat were restaurant Thymari, taverna Vatania and for lunch mini grill Sofia. It is nice walk-able city with long promenade along the seaside, but if needed taxis are everywhere available.

The maze of little streets in the Old Town with buzzy restaurants, plentiful bars and independent shops. The business owners were very friendly. Avoid eating directly in the Venetian port as although picturesque the restaurants are expensive and after eating there and being charged 80 euros for 'the fish of the day' locals such as taxi drivers and told us that restaurants there bump up the prices for gullible tourists.

Loved walking around the old town and finding surprises.
Loved walking around the old town and finding surprises. We took the mini train tour which was great. Didn’t have time to visit the beach and missed visiting the church on the cliff. Saw it from the train though. Definitely would recommend 3-4 nights stay.

A long beachfront promenade with most of the tourist accommodation, adjoining an old Venetian town with a little port and lots of narrow streets and alleys filled with shops and restaurants.

So much history, true Crete feel. Stay in Old Town.
So much history, true Crete feel. Stay in Old Town. That’s where it’s all at. The harbor, shops restaurants, entertainment, safety , beach and great people. I’m a woman traveling solo. I never had a moment where I felt uneasy. So safe. Oh my gosh I love this part of Rethymno.

Small and cosy city by the sea.
Small and cosy city by the sea. It has many nice places to eat out in different price range. I liked most Achinos by the harbour. There is a place to watch the sunset. Local peolple are very nice and welcoming. Many shops to by souvenirs, also for those who would like to save money on hairdresser, nails, spa, massage there were options to choose from.
I particularly liked the fact that there was a farmers market once a week where it was possible to buy vegetables and fruits straight from farmers.

Charmingly old building right in the centre of very cute part of old town, very lovely and responsive hosts with excellent local recommendations and helpful tips, free upgrade to room with very cute street facing balcony, free bottle of water, fridge, kettle, USB charging ports by bedside, daily room cleaning. Location was perfect, we didn't need a car for our very short stay in Crete, easy to navigate the beach, central bus station and ferry port! Excellent value for money!
Everything!! This boutique hotel is absolutely amazing!! Right on the beach with very clear water. The rooms are spacious and very modern. The food is next level from breakfast to beachside lunches and delicious dinners . We were there 5 days and didn’t have any meal anywhere else. The staff are fantastic!! They made us feel more like family than just visitors. Dimitris and all the girls are beautiful young people . You would be crazy not to try this hotel.
New design hotel, close to Retymno, almost on the beach. Good brakfast and exelent staff. Like, that the hotel is not huge... not small, but the right size! Not noisy and good music near the pool almost every night.
Amazing place, scenery, facilities, food, and staff. Situated on the beach this hotel beats many 5* hotels in the city. The staff is amazing and the views are just out of a postcard.
