A beautiful harbour and working town, it is a really friendly place with a large number of good restaurants. It wasn’t too busy when we visited in late September. The local beaches are clean with clear blue water. We particularly liked Filiatro beach about 10 minutes drive away which has beach beds for rent and a good taverna. There is plenty of shade underneath the olive trees.

I liked that Vathi is a real town as well as a tourist town.

I liked that Vathi is a real town as well as a tourist town. There are however lots of restaurants and coffee bars, many catering for the boating community, as this is a popular stopping place for people cruising round the Ionian on small to bigger boats. Everywhere within Vathi is very walkable. I found it a bit restricted as a starting point for a solo traveller, as there are no buses, and the tours of historical/mythical sites are private and very expensive for one or two people.

We really loved our trip to Ithaca. Such a pretty Island. Only tiny but you need a car to visit everywhere. Kioni was really beautiful with nice restaurants. More to chose from in Vathi and if you like walking you can walk to two beaches from there .

Gorgeous little town, with just incredible views. We were there in October, ans despite two days of dull, slightly rainy weather, we found it very charming. Lots of little shops to explore - though some were very expensive, to be honest. We had some great food here - the small restaurant on the seafront, La Familia - was our highlight. Really delicious traditional food. So good I'm going to have to try some of the recipes at home. The boat tours had finished for the winter, but it was still possible to hire a boat, or even a boat with a skipper. Vathi is easy to walk around, it's small and compact, and feels very friendly. I can't say that it would be wheelchair friendly, as a lot of the footpaths have cafe tables and chairs etc.

Vathy is a lovely town.

Vathy is a lovely town. Very large yachting contingent so a little bit more expensive than other places but not by much. Some amazing restaurants - Mills, Soddis and Batis were all favourites along the waterfront.

Staying at Ithaca’s Poem was an absolute delight! The location is perfect—peaceful, yet just a short walk from the heart of Vathi. The rooms are beautifully decorated, clean, and full of charm, with attention to every detail. The view from the balcony was breathtaking, and waking up there felt like a dream. The hosts were incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful throughout my stay, making me feel truly at home. I would return in a heartbeat. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a magical and relaxing stay in Ithaca!

The view of the Ithaca harbour is amazing and the room is extremely spacious. The location is extremely good as you’re a 10 min walk away from the main square of Vathi and all the seafront restaurants. This means that the rooms are very calm and quiet, but with the occasional sound of a motorcycle or two in the morning. Parking in front of the hotel was very convenient.

This hotel was simple but had everything that we needed for our one night stay in beautiful Vathi. The rooms were basic but clean and comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and there was a good spread at breakfast. The location was absolutely perfect.

The lovely Katerina was waiting for us upon our arrival. The accommodation was immaculately clean and located centrally in the port town of Vathi, walking distance to everything. Super convenient. The apartment has its own parking spaces across the road.
