Antigua is very safe for travelers. The Guatemalan people are friendly, honest, and helpful. We did a walking food tour of Antigua through Taste Antigua, which was very informative and the food was delicious. We also did a walking tour of Antigua that helped us understand the history of the city, making it more meaningful to us.
Easy to orient yourself. Frida’s Mexican...delicious Everything is in walking distance Take a free shuttle from Santa Domingo Hotel up to the park...it is fantastic! Antigua market is great, it is huge!
Antigua Guatemala is a very special and old city, where you can enjoy a wonderful climate, and feel like the time just stopped. It is completely walkable so I urge you to walk around, discover, get to know, and enjoy every beautiful spot this wonderful city has to offer. Guatemala is known as the country of eternal spring, so enjoy the gift of a wonderful climate all year long!!! Antigua is full of ruins, history, excellent restaurants, bakeries, and great coffee shops, with a great variety of beautiful and very colored handcrafts. You can buy beautiful jewelry pieces made out of Jade, the mayan stone of life, fertility and power. Antigua has it all: beautiful and friendly people, great mystical charm, nature and history. It is located in a small valley surrounded by three volcanoes, one of them active, but far enough to be secure. Many visitors and natives fall in love with this unique city that you need to experience yourself, take your time and enjoy it, you won't regret it!!!
Save an overnight with sunrise and sunset at Tikal. Stay at the Jungle Lodge. Spend several nights at Lake Atitlan but NOT Ponchy Visit several small villages via boat. In Antigua, visit Valhalla, the Macademia Farm. Take some tours with Ninos de Guatemala and consider their Hotel The Good Hotel for a stay. Beautiful. They are an NGO. I really enjoyed walking up the hill steps to the cross at one end of Antigua. La Tortilla cooking school was a blast.
I have been several times and will return. Convienent from airport and great starting and ending point to all of Guatemala. Great culture and many fantastic restaurants. Safe, clean and comfortable to get around.

Tents in the middle of Antigua!!!! Although you are going to sleep in tents, they are quite comfortable. Sleeping bag and towels are provided by the hostels and you can leave your belongings outside the tent and the important things in lockers in the kitchen. The kitchen has the basic things to prepare any meal. There is always people in the kitchen preparing food and talking. There are two terraces: an outside terrace to see the Agua volcano and an inner terrace to sit. The hostel is downtown Antigua.

central location, super friendly host. Rooms are clean and spacious. The hotel provides drinking water, coffee and some light breakfast to get you going. They organize tours, but are on the higher side. Unless you are too bored to head out and book, would certainly recommend booking tours or shuttles from other tour companies. most attractions are walkable, including the street stalls, if you want to try some cheap and good Guatemalan food.

The room was spacious, nice and clean and had a lovely colonial charme, as the entire hotel. The location is right in the Center, but not too busy or noisy. The garden is lovely and we loved the pacio, from which you can spot the volcano. We needed two extra blankets, as it was quite chilly at night and inside the room the staff happily handed us. Shuttleservice from the airport at night worked out just fine, a bit pricey though with 50$.

Amazingly helpful owner and staff went out of their way every single day for four days to help us arrange transportation, tours, and logistics while in Antigua. Hey were very accommodating of the four kids we had in our group. The HOT SHOWER was a refreshing surprise after 3 weeks in Guatemala. Owner also speaks fluent English and goes to every length to assure every thing goes smooth throughout the visit.
