I can only highly recommend the Royal Malioboro when staying in Yogyakarta! The room is great, the staff are very friendly and the facilities are excellent. The breakfast was also one of the best I have had with a good mix of Indonesian, Javanese and western food. Being directly off Malioboro Street you also stay in the center of town with all sights at your doorstep. I can’t wait to go back.

The room was clean, the hotel was quiet for good sleep. The staff was very friendly. They don't all speak English, but Google translate solved that! And the owner Rita was very pleasant and very helpful. Excellent value for the price!

The kitchen staff were instructed to prepare a breakfast specifically for me - this act of kindness, generosity and attention, I will never forget. I was able to enjoy a truly Yogi/Javanese/Indonesian taste. I am very grateful. Another thing for which I am grateful, is the fruit basket that was hand selected and decorated specially for me. One more thing for which I am grateful, is the exceptional collection of books on Indonesian art/architecture/culture in the library that the hotel management has made available for peruse.

The hotel is strategically located at Jalan Malioboro, a happening street in Yogyakarta. Along this road, there are many outlets specialising in snacks, batik, souvenirs, some restaurants and also pharmacies. The breakfast at the hotel is good too, I always look forward to it. The spread is not a lot but I got what I wanted to eat especially Gudeg Yogyakarta that I tried for the first time.
