The cottage ia exactly like in the pictures, cute, cozy, with a nice view. The host was very friendly, everything was uncomplicated and we enjoyed our stay immensely. Nice little bedrooms, complete with hearing blankets :-), very quiet (if you don't mind some bleating sheep, unavoidable in this part of land :D ). Two nice new bathrooms, with lots of hot water. Not to forget some breakfast items and tea and coffee were provided. We had a perfect stay.

Located on Achill Island, 25 mi from Westport, Johnny Joe's is an accommodations featuring mountain and sea views. Beautiful little cottage with everything you need! The perfect place for a relaxing stay on Achill. We enjoyed the fireplace and the cosy atmosphere very much.
It’s a large island. Car definitely needed. Beware of sheep roaming freely. Bring food - limited supermarket shopping. Good restaurants (Amethyst and Beehive) Magnificent beaches. Windy and wild. Be prepared for weather to change every ten minutes.
Achill was pretty central. Even though I am Irishman, (I grew up in Limerick), I had never been on Achill Island before. I have been living in San Diego, California for the past 35 years so it was really nice to spend some time in a place as tranquil and serene as Achill Island. Lots of things to do. However, the caravan park is an absolute eyesore. If you're going to visit, make sure you rent a place far enough away from the "park."
Some very good eateries! Not all we’re catering for indoor dining! It was very very busy on our first two days. We expected it to be quieter. Scenery was spectacular. Next time walking boots will be required as there are multiple walks around the island at all levels.
The island is beautiful Lots of beautiful beaches . Drive out to see the outstanding views . While you need a car you can hire bikes however you would want to be an avid cyclists as it’s very narrow roads with a lot of sheep appearing from anywhere and it’s very steep hills
We stayed in Keel the beaches amazing , great food trucks for coffee , crepes and vegan/veggie health food truck with eco friendly cups etc they even have edible cups. Nice bars and restraunts , we ate outside with covid but the sun was shining and was great. Some great walks/hikes and its great to just drive around the island looking at the views. Lots and lots of water sports for kids/adults/family you can rent all your gear there but always bring your own if you have it. There is camping options available for tents, campers etc , B&B's and also a few hotels. Great place , we stayed 2 nights but I think a few days more would have been better. Great for a week with family lots for the kids to do especially if you get the weather !
For me it was my destination for my hotel as I have stayed there before. And after a long day up from Limerick, all along the coast roads, it's such a a nice place to visit. It's a shame they close the rail road , wait would be been one of the great Train ride to go on, as that is werethetrack ends.
Beautiful location, house warm and clean. Great size. Very comfortable
