The opportunity to stay at Ballinalacken is a gift. From the front gate onwards is a memory in the making. The ambience is wonderful - the building, decor, furnishings through to the gardens. The bedroom was a treasure - quality throughout. The castle tour is a phenomenal opportunity - the icing on the cake so to speak.

The breakfast had a fantastic selection, from Full Irish breakfast to a choice of vegetarian or vegan items per plate. Parking was right outside the hotel. The location was fabulous and within walking distance of the Cliffs of Moher. Staff wonderfully friendly, hotel new and clean, great pub restaurant with live music most nights. Hotel was new, clean and nice smelling. There were warm gas fireplaces to sitt by downstairs. Would return to this hotel and area for hiking in the future.

Our 4 night stay at West Haven House was so wonderful! The room and bathroom was beautifully decorated and appointed and the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast each day in the light and airy dining room was something we really enjoyed, with a great selection of both hot dishes and a more traditional continental style. I had something different every day (the Bailey's porridge was to die for)! But my favourite aspect was the genuine homely feel of West Haven House. We were there at the beginning of October during Storm Amy. The weather was awful (it's not usually), so we spent a fair bit of time in the house. In fact, we spent one day totally inside, when Liz (the host) provided some board games and decks of cards for us and we had so much fun playing these with another of the families staying there! We also loved the fact that West Haven House is only about 100m from both McDermott's and McGann's pubs, where we had 4 wonderful nights of food, drink and traditional music before being able to quickly walk back home! We did get to see the Cliffs of Moher and The Burren while we were there, but we will definitely be going back and West Haven House will be our choice to stay!!

FAQs about hotels in Doolin

Overall Doolin is a great town to visit.

Overall Doolin is a great town to visit. Be careful eating at O'Connor's, we both got sick from the Seafood Chowder. The Cliffs of Moher are not what they were, to restricted to see. The Cliffs of Kerry, Mizen Head, Kilkee Cliffs and even Dub Briste Sea Stack is better.

We arrived later in the afternoon after visiting the Cliffs of Moher and didn't have time to check out the couple shops near the pier. Did the seaweed baths at the pier and it was a very memorable experience. Watched others swim in the ocean while we enjoyed the warm sea water in our baths. Finding a spot to have dinner without reservations when its raining proved to be difficult. We tried three spots before McGann's found a spot for us. Turned out to be the perfect meal while listening to traditional music! If the weather was nicer, we would have loved to check out the pitch and putt course that's nearby.

Really enjoyed our visit to Doolin ,we got to share abit of Ireland with my Niece from the USA and make some more family memories. Even though our second day we were unable to get to see the Cliff of Moher due to weather we changed and went to the Doolin Caves which was very enjoyable and did a drive around some other parts of the surrounding area. Then on our second day we were up early and got to do the Cliffs, Irish weather is never a given but we made the best and still got to do the things we had planned and more on our visit.

In did the Cliff walk towards the Cliffs and being right in Doolin made it quite easy to access it. Pubs and restaurants were great. The host at O'Coonors accommodations told me about a free shuttle to take people to the Cliffs of Moher which I did use and then walked back along the Cliff walk. You can't get enough of that view.

The ocean and landscape around Doolin are stunning, but there are a lot of tourists. Suggest seeing the cliffs of Killdee just south of Moher for equally spectacular experience with very few tourist. Doolin, the town, is ok but not great. One day/night is plenty.

Deidre the host was lovely!! Our stay was only for the bed as we arrived later in the day and left early in the morning as had a lot of miles to cover. However it was a comfortable stay, a great location, easy to stroll into town for dinner and a few drinks. If we ever find ourselves back in Doolin would definitely stay again.

Excellent common spaces where we enjoyed the breakfast, tea and coffee items provided as well as meeting other guests. The private suites were modern and well appointed. Harvest Moon is in an ideal location just outside Doolin where we had a great night out for dinner and enjoying the great pub scene. Highly recommend.
