I’ve stayed in a lot of places booked through booking.com, and this is easily one of the highest quality ones I’ve stayed in. The house was breathtaking - gorgeous sash windows, beautiful vines growing up the walls, and a tree lined drive. It felt like we were looking at a postcard (in the best way possible). The hosts were exceptionally friendly, we asked if we could microwave some Chinese food we bought passing through mallow, expecting to heat it in a microwave then eat from the tubs in the corner of the kitchen with spare chopsticks from my car like most hosts would have us do, and instead we handed over the bag and were served the food on a tray with (heated) plates and cutlery. That was a big morale boost to us. The bed had a (pre-heated) heated blanket which was a lovely touch since it’s bitterly cold this time of year. My eyes lit up when I heard the blanket was already warm and I wrapped myself up in it immediately to shake off the winter night. We realised that the teacups were the latest Wedgwood which was nice since back home we only use Enoch-Tunstall Wedgwood. There was an issue with our booking, where I booked the room for my partner and I but booking.com only told the hosts one guest was staying, but they were very accommodating they didn’t want to confirm the booking on my end or any of it they just brought up another towel. The last time that happened the host showed so much less decorum I had to take them and AirBnB to small claims court (haven’t used Airbnb since) so the fact that these hosts didn’t even want to see the booking confirmation (which does show two guests on my end) when others can be so rude over a company’s mistake was a mark of good character. We only stayed one night as it was along the route of a road trip with the next stop being a wedding on the other end of Cork, but we would have happily stayed longer if we had longer to stay.
