Guest house Hrafnabjörg is 1640 feet from Herjólfur Ferry Terminal, on Heimaey island, the largest of the Westman Islands. The guest house is housed in 2 buildings, located next to each other. Nicest accommodation I stayed at during my 6 day trip in Iceland. Would really recommend Vestmannaeyjar for a night to make a full day out of it (arrived by ferry), and this is a great place to stay. Owner very nice, and the house is really well designed for a B&B. Breakfast was great.

Great place on a beautiful island. We ended up with the whole house to ourselves during out stay. It was nice to have a "home" like feeling during our blustery days of camping throughout Iceland. We enjoyed this bit of respite. Cozy, nicely decorated, warm, and clean.
Located 12 mi from Hvolsvöllur in the South Iceland region, Bryggjur is a villa boasting a terrace. Guests may enjoy the free WiFi throughout the property. This secluded home in the middle of Icelandic horse pastures was incredible! Our family did not want to leave! The house itself was very spacious, clean and provided everything we could ask for, including a washing machine. The location and view was like no other. Once you arrive at the property owners home, the guesthouse is another 5 minute drive down a gravel road. We could not get enough of the view in every direction...Icelandic horses everywhere, Westman Islands and Seljalandfoss can be seen if the weather is good. For relaxation in the Icelandic countryside...stay here!

Amazing location in the middle of nowhere. Very quiet place. The chalet is very cozy and homy. Also, there’s 1 double bed and 3 simple beds on top floor, and a pretty comfy futon with a mattress in the living room - enough space for a crowd! :) I would recommend to all!
The Westman Islands make for a memorable overnight trip. The volcano museum does a wonderful job of explaining the 1973 eruption. And there are several neat buildings to see and views to enjoy. Just watch out for the wind!
We only stayed for one night and wish we would have stayed one more day so we could have walked to the south side (where you could easily see Puffins up close) and also wish we would have seen the volcanoes exhibit. We will definitely come back. The locals were very helpful. Two different people gave us lifts to and from the property we stayed at :)
Loved the town - incredible scenery and wonderful scenery. People were very friendly and helpful especially our hosts at The Guesthouse Hamar Kari Bjarnason at the Town Museum. When he found out we had ancestors from there, he researched them and took us on a tour of where they had lived. A great experience! Would have loved to have stayed longer.
Tons to do on this little island. From seeing the puffin at the aquarium (which sadly u can no longer hold or touch, but still see up close) to a night hike to see puffins fron a cool lookout point. The pool in town is great for kids and adults (waterslides, hot tubs of varying degrees, cold plunge, indoor pool with diving board—-could spend a whole day just here) wanted to horseback rode but it was craaaazy windy while we were there. Face restaurant was fiskibarinn. Ate their two nights in a row!
Vestmannaeyjar was the highlight of our trip! Go ahead and bring your car over on the ferry. At first glance we thought the town looked a little run-down, but it has so much history and charm! Take the bus tour - the little aquarium/nature museum is included in the price and you'll get lots of stories about the island and their traditions. But wear your hiking shoes - you'll get on and off several times and not everything you'll see will be right by the bus. Also, we took the "rib" boat tour because we were too late for the big boat tour and it worked out great. It wasn't rough and we didn't get wet like we thought we would. It was a little cold (mid-July) so just dress for it. You'll see tons of birds (puffins and others) and we saw one whale in the distance.
We've been to Heimey in winter and summer, and it's never failed to impress. The first time in winter was meant to be a day trip via Eagle Air, but fog forced us to stay overnight, and high seas meant catching the (last for a few days) ferry all the way back to Þorlakshöfn the following morning, meaning we missed out flight to Norway. So, lesson learned, the second time in Summer, we booked to stay two nights and took our hire car on the ferry. This time we travelled there early in our trip to Iceland rather than the last day, in case we ended up stuck there an extra night or two. Once again in summer it was fogbound the first day, but we still had an amazing 2-hour trip by rib boat around the islands. Sure it was foggy, but that lent an air of mystique to the crags and caves, which made it spectacular in its own way. The second day we climbed Eldfell (the volcanic vent formed in the 1972 eruption) in the fog. Again, the fog added to the ambience. At the top, we found the warm vents (easy to find as it was raining, and the dry patches on the ground meant it was warming from beneath) and dried ourselves off. Suddenly, the skies cleared, and we had an impressive view of the entire island. That afternoon we climbed Herjólfsdalur from the golf course. I wished I'd brought my hiking stick and crampons, as the muddy path made it hard going, but again, well worth it for the view. While you're there, pay a visit to the aquarium. It's small (but about to become much larger) and features a rescue Puffin who is remarkably tolerant of dozens of visitors. Order a pizza from Pizza 67....make it a mid-sized one as the large is simply too big for two people, no matter how much walking you've done. The soup and salad bar at Tanginn was also excellent value for money, and the duck salad from 900 Gillhaus was brilliant.

This small apartment was great. It was perfect for our 5 adult family. The parents took one room and the "kids" took the other. The kitchen was fully stocked and the whole unit very clean and comfortable. The beds were firm, just the way I like it. The hosts were wonderful, pointing out lovely things about Heimaey and their favorite places to eat. They left a booklet that included the local museums and hours for that. We definitely under-utilized this place. It would have been perfect for a week's stay!

It was very clean and a great location. Easy to get to and park near, as we brought our car over on the ferry. The owner was very helpful with tips for restaurants nearby. It was a little noisy with people talking and passing by outside, but that didn’t go on too late. The shared kitchen was different for us, but it was well equipped and we only had a quick breakfast there. The power strip was handy as we have several devices that needed to be charged.

I loved the setting surrounded by high cliffs with lots of birds. The little A frame was very comfortable and heated. We paid extra for linens which were clean and nice. It was an easy walk from the ferry to Glamping Camping. There are laundry and kitchen facilities available.

It is as cool as the pictures look. It feels a little like sleeping in a spaceship. The capsules are basically bunk beds with privacy with great perks. One of my favorite parts was the different variations of lighting that are available. Usually I don't want to be the one with a light on late into the night reading but this gives you the option to do so without bothering others. The lighting on the mirror is a make-up lovers dream.
