Located in central Vestmannaeyjar, this hotel offers free sauna access, free parking and rooms with free Wi-Fi access and a TV. Vestmannaeyjar Golf Club is a 12-minute walk away. This was the quietest hotel we stayed in the whole time we were in Iceland! Of course, some of that may be because Vestmannaeyjar is just so quiet! The hotel location is perfect for just heading out and walking to explore. Breakfast was very good. Hotel staff was pleasant and the room and bed were very comfortable.
Located in Vestmannaeyjar town center, this hotel offers rooms and apartments with free WiFi access, tea/coffee facilities and a flat-screen TV. Vestmannaeyjar Ferry Terminal is a 5-minute walk away. Large clean and comfortable room; we were able to cook a simple meal. Right in the center of town, close to everything.
Located in Vestmannaeyjar, Lava Guest house features barbecue facilities and free WiFi. Featuring an ATM, this property also provides guests with a terrace. Guests can make use of a garden. It was beautifully decorated. The beds were comfy and there were plenty of electrical outlets for charging electronics.
Glamping & Camping is located in Vestmannaeyjar and has views of the mountains. All units include a seating area. I loved everything about this place. The island itself is kind of magical, and this campsite is in one of its loveliest corners. Its only a short walk in one direction to see a puffin colony, and in another to the (excellent) public pool. The common kitchen is clean and equipped with both cookware and china, and the bathrooms are nice. We stayed in a cabin, which was cozy and afforded a great night's sleep. Excellent value.
Guest house Hrafnabjörg is 1640 feet from Herjólfur Ferry Terminal, on Heimaey island, the largest of the Westman Islands. The guest house is housed in 2 buildings, located next to each other. Great location, staff wonderful, breakfast great ! Will come back, we loved our stay ♥️
This Heimaey island guest house is 1640 feet from Herjólfur Harbor in Vestmannaeyjar. It offers a communal kitchen, TV lounge and free WiFi. Guest house Árny’s rooms have wooden floors. The location was very convenient though we did not have a car. All was at walking distance. Árný and her son Gaui made us feel at home. Very helpful and available. They also suggested things to do in the day and offered to store our bags on our check-out day until we would embark the ferry. Highly recommended locals-owned guesthouse!
Featuring a terrace, Lava House has accommodations in Vestmannaeyjar with free WiFi and sea views. This self-catered apartment has a garden and free private parking. This apartment was one of our favorites, and we have stayed in apartments, hotels, and cabins all throughout Iceland on multiple trips. The location can't be beat - short walks to our favorite sights and restaurants on Heimaey; the Kronan and Bonus are both pretty much across the street so groceries are super close as well. We were able to check in a few hours early which was SO appreciated. It was more than enough room for our family of 4 and could accommodate a larger group. There is a small bedroom on the main floor with 2 singles (our kids slept here), and there is a large loft upstairs with a double and 2 more singles. We were pleasantly surprised by the washer/dryer as well (I don't think those were listed in the amenities so wanted to mention it).
Offering free WiFi and garden views, Troll's cosy apartment in front of lava fields is a property located in Vestmannaeyjar. This self-catered apartment features a garden and free private parking. The property hd everything you need and a little extra.
Only a couple of hours drive from Keflavik and a 30 minute ferry ride gets you right to the harbour. Thought we could do it in one day but were sadly mistaken. Got in a few activities like a tour boat trip and some bird sightings but no time for a more interactive puffin experience on the cliffs, puffling rescuing in town, lava fields, and the brewery before the ferry to the mainland the following morning. I'd suggest you give yourself a couple of days to take in the sights and also drive to the south side of the island late evening and check out the northern lights.
Stunning! Endless mountains and volcanoes, beaches, coastlines and hiking (but not endless because you are on an island of course!) - a lot of variety and nature within a small area. Good food, lots to see and do both in town and outside.
One of the highlights of our visit to Iceland. First a nice ferry ride to the island, then a hike up the Eldfell volcano for a superb view of the island. The drive along the coast was spectacular with a stop at a short trail to a Puffin lookout along the coast. We arrived during the 6 weeks of the Puffin Patrol in early September when local citizens collect disoriented baby puffins in boxes and release them along the coast.
The city felt instantly like home. The locals were amongst the friendliest of everyone we met while in Iceland. Great food and wonderful town to walk around. Very easy to get around by car. Definitely try Brothers Brewery and the Eyja island tour with Ebbi was fantastic!
Tiny island; lots to see and do. Much more tourist friendly than when I first went 12 years ago. Small, but challenging golf course, It takes two to three days to see everything the island has to offer (or two to three trips, if you prefer to see the island that way).
Seeing puffins was a highlight. This is the place for that. Go to the south of Heimaey. Hiking up volcanos and visited Eldheima the volcano museum. Good restaurants with fresh seafood. Friendly people. Eiya Tours minibus tournwith Ebbi was very entertaining and gave good overview of the island Heimaey.

The host was very knowledgable of the area and recommended many nice attractions. Apparently, you can put food in the mini caves on top of Eldfell volcano and they will heat up. We tried it and it works!!
