- friendly owners. -Wonderful breakfast on a terrace with mountain views (mostly sweets with different home cakes and pies every day and the best croissants). I prefer a savory breakfast and was fine too with toast, cheese, eggs. Great coffee. - location: quiet, silent, sky full of stars like we ’ve had never seen them before - little city Santa Sofia is close (20 min by car), there you have restaurants and small supermarkets - area perfect for nature lovers. We love to hike and Il Palazzo didn’t disappoint. The owners can provide you with good information. Right at the hotel starts the 4 km trail ‘sentiero naturale’. You can also do at least 2 long hikes starting at the hotel (1 > Hike around lake Ridracoli; 2 > hike up to San Paolo in Alpe). For a longer stay there are plenty of starting points within a 30 to 45 minutes drives. The car rides through nature are lovely as well. The national park ‘Foreste Casentinesi’ has a good app and a helpful website with tons of info concerning the many hikes in this amazing area. We spent a hot summer week at ‘Il Palazzo’. We hiked every day, the forest gives you lots of shadow which makes it feasible - after a long day of hiking it’s lovely to have dinner at the hotel’s restaurant. Really good food and not too expensive. If you want to eat somewhere else there are at least two restaurants within a 5 minute drive (we tried La vera Romagna and loved it!) - even though it was very hot, the temperature in the room was good to sleep in. You can leave the windows open thanks to the fly screenshot

The hotel is located in a beautiful area and managed by an extremely friendly couple who couldn't do enough for us (5 couples). The service was amazing and the food was fantastic (breakfast and dinner).

The appartments are in an old but modernized stone-building beside an aggricultura in a tiny and very peaceful village where you mostly hear birds in the morning. You find wonderful paths for hiking or cycling and great restaurants in and around Santa Sofia. The check-in was easy with a key-box. The room was clean and the interior is a tasteful mix of old elements of the building and new elements. The breakfast you get in the basement with a perfect and warm service of one of the hosts. It was a really nice stay and we can highly recommend to stay there!

I highly recommend this accommodation. Guests have at their disposal the entire three-story house with a kitchen, living room and bedroom with incredible mountain views. The area impresses with its silence and natural beauty. The house has absolutely everything for the comfort of guests, as well as breakfast included. There are a couple of amazing places to visit within a few minutes drive to admire the beauty of the place, and there is also an amazing waterfall within an hour's drive where you can swim.

What an absolute delight it was to stay here and to meet the wonderful host, Nadia. The room was beautifully decorated and full of all the amenities you could want including coffee, tea, hairdryer etc. The restaurant is a total gem and the food was excellent. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. It is also right of the cammino di Dante trail so really easy to access. I can't wait to return!

Don't miss a visit to the (somewhat spooky) Corniolo lake. We cycled around the magnificent Ridracoli loop by e-bike (a guide and ability to ride on dirt roads are recommended). We were fortunate enough to hear the legendary bellowing, encounter some deer... AND TO CROSS COUNTRY WITH TWO WOLF PUPPYS ON THE FOREST ROAD, WHO DELIGHTED US WITH THEIR PLAY.
